Colin Todd issues dressing-down to misfiring wingers Colin Todd has revealed that he dished out a dressing-room rollicking to misfiring wingers Bobby Petta and Ben Muirhead after they made little impact against Swansea City on Saturday. Both were taken off early in the second half before City mounted their fightback to grab a point. Talking to the Telegraph & Argus Todd said: "It was evident we were playing with only nine men. "Other people were working their backsides off trying to make things happen with and without the ball but those two didn't have the same passion and drive. "I told them at half-time that they were letting everybody down and they have taken that on board. Both know that they didn't contribute enough. "I have persevered with using a system with two wingers but you have got to have that trust in the two wide men to deliver on a consistent basis. "The game of football is difficult enough as it is but you can't afford to have two people who don't have that appetite and work rate required. "I've got no axe to grind and they accepted what I had to say to them.
RE: There lies the trouble he doesnt give bollockings. The last time there was bollockings all round and a team heart to heart was after the Donny LDV match,we all know the rest, renewn vigour and the start of a long unbeaten run.Lets hope this is the start of another.
How is that relevant to us? Devaney and Shuker are too of our hardest working players and show about the most passion and drive!
Look at the bigger picture Journo....... playing with wingers is a dangerous game because if they are tied down or made ineffective by the opposition there aren't many other options available.
I believe that is what Mr Todd was refering to as well as giving the wingers a bollocking for their workrate.
