read a few on here, eldest lad was playing in walsall today so decided to train it from there and walk it from new st. all fine walking before and after game, not 1 sign of bother, and chatting with a few they all said we were a good team and deserved the 3pts good day out all round, n just £15 in for 2 kids and me
Mixed feelings Used to work in Birmingham for a few years, and played for their ladies team. Met some absolutely fantastic folks, and used to have some great banter with them. Always struck me that the Blues fans were a good, passionate bunch, compared to the bland villa bunch. But That play off game ... Horrible. Four of us, all female. Got spat at, bottles thrown at us etc etc. Just not a nice experience, and definitely not called for. never really forgiven them since, and not been back since then either.
Re: Mixed feelings When you come out of the away end have they took the screens down? They used to have a fence seperating the fans as they walked out, two Wolves were stabbed through the fence so the police put up screens, these were there when we won 4-0 in the play offs. Its possibly the worst ground i've been to for intimidation and the zulu's are one of the worst mobs in the country, proper nasty b*stards. I've met a few of them too at England games abroad, including spending a week with two of them on Zante when we went to the Greece game in 2001. I will never go to that ground again in the car, too much hassle.
I was at the Playoff game Truly horrendous. I was in with the home fans due to a Blues season ticket holder work-mate getting me a ticket. I managed to get into the away end at half-time because the atmosphere was quite awful. Walking out at the end was a matter of dodging the gob and the bottles and coins coming over the fence. Sensibly I wore blue and white and managed to mingle with the crowd once away from the ground and escaped unhurt. I can honestly say its the most threatened I've ever felt at a footy match and that obviously includes going to Helland Rd, Swillsbro and Bumhole Lane. In fact the only other places I can think of that come close were Upton Park, Maine Rd and Stamford Bridge back in the 80s. Gave my mate plenty of stick at work though.
