    hi i put 5.00 on american trilogy e/w at ladbrokes. how much would i have won he came second. this is in the 2.00 aintree

    When I workedin a bookies I regularly wanted to ask people why they did it

    Damage limitation. Instead of losing £10 on straight win he lost £2.25.

    Perhaps it depends what % of your bets win and what % are placed. At 4-1 20% winners would get your win stake back and 60% place of the same horses would ensure a small profit.
