How many midfielders have we had in the last 5 years that would have seen the pass to Hemmings for his goal last night? I'm struggling.

Really impressed with his start to the season. He could turn out to be an absolute steal at £200k.

I think the more interesting thing is if you watch hourihane he is absolutely busting a gut to get forward and offer an attacking threat...

Don't remember any midfielder showing that level of commitment at any point in a game, let alone 80 odd minutes in!

He's a potential star in my eyes.

Everything he does looks good. Even when it doesn't come off, you can see what he was attempting. Thing he has to work on now is to get in the game more. He makes things tick for us, we've got to get him on the ball much more.

Far too soon to be praising him. Far too soon. But good effort Jay. For you.

    Thanks mate. I feel honoured.

Always thought you missed a trick by going in to optometry when you could have been a world renowned internet impressionist.

He looks absolute quality so far at this level. Him and Cranie will be key to how good a season we have.

Nice to have a midfielder again whose first thoughts are to go forward or shoot.

Reminds me of Brian Howard in our last L1 spell. Hope he turns out to be just as influential.

From what I've seen of him so far he's easily got the quality to play higher.

I'm chuffed to bits for the lad that he seems to have started with a bang.

Three cracking goals and by all accounts his general play is going well too. Before Argyle brought him, Roy Keane was said plenty of good things about him, sadly, he walked into an Argyle side going through administration, a side lacking fight and quality. He stuck by us and improved tremendously over the last 12 months. He wasn't always appreciated, some how fans in league 2 seeing retaining possession and passing sideways as a weakness. He has always given the impression of being a proper footballer.

I know a number of the "smarter" Argyle supporters thought the lad was destined for much higher, certainly League 1 will not be the ceiling of his talent, hopefully he'll keep you ticking over and get you back up this season.

At the price i'm sure he'll prove to be one of your best signings for a long time. Maybe even out performing one of my all time favourite players Stevie Cooper, a man who jumped like no other footballer i've ever seen.

Steve Cooper - used to be a gymnast at school ? Happy memories of him.

Yes, if Hourihane carries on as he's started, he'll surely play at a much higher level.

Good to see you praising him. A fair number of your fans were saying what an overated and poor player we had signed. Much like Swindon fans when we took Brian Howard off them, and that worked out really well. The only three attacking midfield players of note in recent times for us have been Jacob Butterfield, Danny Drinkwater and Brian Howard. Two left us too cheaply and the other was only a loanee for a couple of months.

That's why I rate him as our best prospect from midfield since Craig Hignett. Because he's ours, on a three year contract and when he's undoubtedly sold on we will get more from it than when all the three I mentioned left combined.

Its like anything in life, you are often judged on the ability of those around you, rather than your actual ability as an individual. We played 3-5-2 last year, sadly our wing backs were dire, often Conor would win the ball back play the ball to one of our wing backs, who would then lash it into touch, fall over etc and somehow that was Conor's fault.

He has the ability to just buy himself a bit of time in crowded area's that to me is normally the sign of a very good footballer. As you've already seen he does have a cracking left foot, my only real issue with him that sometimes he tackles like Paul Scholes and picks up silly cautions (think he got booked 11-12 times last year) but maybe that was the frustration of playing in a poor side bubbling over and something he might now erase from his game.

For the person who mentioned Stevie Cooper being a gymnast, you are correct he was also County standard high jumper as a kid, He just had the most amazing ability to hang in the air for a ridiculous length of time.
