http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley/conor-i-m-staying-put-at-barnsley-1-7318855 Sounds like all those rumors about the interest is all a bit bullsh*t. The only thing i could see being real is that the Bournemouth scouts were watching him, but i cant see him going there while there in the Premiership
We don't know that as we can only assume. He'd have to improve the likes of his fitness. But the plus side if if you are good at set pieces you should be good with them at any level as it's the same routine.
He would have to improve his all round game. The jump from league one to the premiership is getting bigger all the time. I bet the lad from MK Dons never cuts it either. I hope I'm wrong about Hourihane and Bournemouth offer us a million quid - I just can't see it. * I can't believe I just said "....Bournemouth offer us a million quid...." and it was serious post. How quickly football changes.
A few years ago they would have been offering a big box of choc ices and a season ticket for donkey rides on Bournemouth beach for a third division player.
Of course you have to be fitter, more inteligent etc as it's at an higher level. But if you can put a set piece to a team mate at League 1 level, you can do the same at premiership level. It's no harder because it's still kicking a football.
He isnt exactly David Beckham at taking set pieces anyway. He just floats them in and our big lads make something of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why do folk play down our talented laikers? If he was at any other club he'd be idolised and bigged up incessantly.
I'm not playing him down. He's been great for us in L1, but we're talking a HUGE step up to the PL. I personally don't think he's got the all round game atm. Only young though so plenty of scope for improvement.
We scored more goals from corners/set pieces last season alone, than we did in the five seasons prior, combined. But aye, he just floats em in and if anybody else was taking em we'd score as many.
I wasn't really responding to you mate, more a general feeling I get when reading Hourihane related threads. I think he's been a great signing for us and hope he stays. I'll worry about whether he's good enough for the level(s) above if we get there and he's part of the squad. Although if he does leave, I'll keep an eye on him hoping he succeeds. Kinel, I'm just a reight nice lad really.
I'll bet I'm not far off with that bold statistical claim though. If we just count corners and free kicks, not pens.
