Question for anyone who went to the Shrewsbury game or have watched the game back. Did Conor play as a holding midfielder due to Brownhill being an attacking midfielder and if so did he play well in that role?
I was also really impressed with Brownhill. Got a feeling he will come good and do well for us. I assume that once Scowen is fully fit and starting games that Brownhill will be used as an impact sub. Will have to wait and see but PNE could have inadvertently loaned out a player who is better and has more potential than the player that they just signed!
Conor played well for mine and was at the heart of a lot of the good things we did. As skipper Conor is a more effective leader than Mawson and he continues to show Johnson's comments about him being able to play in a midfield four were typically inept. Yes, Conor made the odd mistake and blokes round by me were whinging at him but I'd rather a player make an odd mistake whilst setting five or six positive attacking moves going than some of the lightweight, uninvolved dross we have like Isgrove who appeared to my eyes to do nothing all game again bar one break when he ran quickly with the ball with nobody anywhere near him (his forte - when marked he hasn't a clue) until their donkey centre half fouled him before he went down the usual blind alley. Brownhill was way off the pace in the first half and improved a little in the second. Bree was impressive for mine, excellent ball control going forward. The key to our performances recently and going forward has been and will come down to the creativity of Conor, the finishing of SSW and the magic of Hammill (plus his combination with White) not anything the impactless and tactically lacking Johnson and his loanees have done.
