Has there ever been a more professional, obvious, cynical, take one for the team foul in the history of football? Hourihane just stood there and kicked him. I don't usually like seeing us resort to cheating and fouling, but it was such a bad foul I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer audacity of it. You could just imagine him saying "have some of that" as he booted their player up in the air.
He also lambasted Brownhill for making a mistake by not clearing it, effing and jeffing at him. That's not a captain's way to do anything
Disagree. To that point Brownhills passing and general play had been atrocious I thought he was a lot better after that.
Definitely took one for the team. Thought it was as much a trip as a kick though. Also , I remember one of their players dragging back one of ours (may have been Brownhill) by the arm after he!d gone past him. Foul given but can't remember if het a yellow card.
He did right as well. He put back in trouble after we'd just stemmed an attack. Captains job to bollock/encourage.
Totally cynical or professional whichever way you look at it...watch Wigan this season , it's their stock in trade....not that they commit a lot of fouls necessarily , they are discliplined enough to commit very few of the pointless and unnecessary ones , but the fouls they do commit are done for professional reasons.
This time last year, loads of people were calling Connor a tackle shy soft arse. He can't win. - Well he can, even if it's a bit ugly sometimes. It's a captain's job and I think he's doing a good un...
If that has been a sheff utd player I would have been screaming for a red card. Very lucky only to get a yellow I thought... Although it turned out to be a good foul to concede once the yellow card was shown, and not the red! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Seconded. Brownhill was at that stage playing for dem blades, seemingly. Couldn't help put us in trouble. Conor bollocked him as a captain should and Josh's game improved. And after Hammill had been a wally on the halfway line, losing the ball again, dem blades were through down the right. Conor took one for Hammill and the team. Reight captain.
It couldn't be a red card, being so close to the line, and only just past half way, and it's not like he launched himself into a two footed assault. It was quite funny really. Couldn't help thinking of that funny penguin video clip that was doing the rounds years ago where one is ambling past another only to be cynically tripped by the second one, falling through the ice. It was like that, without the ice....and the penguins.
Glad we are being more physical, when required. Too many teams have bullied us this season. Chesterfield made at least a dozen challenges that bad a few weeks ago.
Sorry but that's none sense. Apart from denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity, that type of foul has never been a red card offence. The yellow was right.
He deserved the b*llocking for not getting rid of the ball, and losing it on the edge of our box. I don't think he had one of his better games, again, yesterday. He's lucky that Scowen is covering at right-back.
Lucky to get a yellow? It was in no way a red card challenge. A cynical trip is never a red card unless it's the last man, there's no luck about it.
Ah, thanks for posting that Tomi. I had it in my jokes/videos folder years ago but must have deleted it. It's a simple bit of humour, but funny, and I just thought of it when Conor poked his leg out yesterday, all innocent-like
Conor has really grown into the captains role. His verbal roasting of Brownhill seemed to have some impact on his performance. Best Captain since Redders IMO.
