After a great start at home with 3 good games, maybe some of the stay away fans would come back with a 20 match season pass. We have 2 weeks now before the next home game, why not have a massive push and offer an adult pass for £290, oap for £180, student and under 18 for £130 with any under 12 pass for just £25. Maybe we could offer 10% off with any ticket stub from either of the first 3 games, the club would have most peoples info on the database if you didn't keep your stub!

The supporters trust could put this to Don and the board etc, I would be more than willing as part of a big group of us to get together and get leaflets/posters put up all over town/through letterbox drops etc. The club should mail/email everyone on the database to try and drum of as much support as possible. Surly this is better than moaning about paying £28/25 for most games, and still saves over £5 when we have £20 games vs Peterborough and other teams.

We should make a point and really push the big savings, and the fact it includes the Leeds/Sheff Wed/Hudds games and big games vs Forest, Hull, Bolton etc. Great value for great games. Yesterday was like a breath of fresh air with people back in the ground and a good atmosphere. I would like to see the family offer stay for the west lower, I would make an offer in here for every game, £40 per match, or a £600 pass for 2 adults and 2 kids, what great value this would be!!

Now I know not everyone can find £600/290/180 in 2 weeks, but some can, and with things like credit cards it gives people a month to save the cash. People don't have to buy one so it's a worth a try to the people who want to/can buy one. Why not offer the option of pay for half now, give a booklet with numbers 4-13 in, then pay for the other half when you can between now and game 14, if you can't pay it then you lose the pass, but at least people might carry on coming.

I'm sure I'll take some stick and people won't agree with some stuff I have said, but what are peoples thoughts, could this work and who would be willing to help?? I'm just a fan who loves to see the ground full and I'm desperate for BFC to compete as much as possible!! Anyone got any suggestions to go with these ideas??

I have emailed Don and Mark Stokes with this idea.

I don't like the idea. I know two reds fans who have been on honeymoon for the last month or so (I know, its a bloody long honeymoon) so haven't been to a game yet but they are season ticket holders who have paid £330. You're proposing that somebody who showed no commitment in the summer should get to see the same amount of games as them for less money. I'm sure they're not the only season ticket holders who havent been to any games yet and i'm sure there are many more who have missed one or two due to holidays and I think it is wrong to penalise them for buying a season ticket.

An alternative which would work for me is that anyone who has a stub for yesterdays game can have a season ticket with £12.50 knocked off the price.

I personally don't agree with what your saying as it's not the clubs or someone else fault that they have been on honeymoon...but you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am and there isn't a right or wrong answer. I'm just trying to get more in and as a pass holder myself I don't care if they buy one now.

I like the idea I have a ST so no good for me but if I gets say another 1500 commuting it would worth it. Oakwell needs a better atmosphere at some games and would welcome anything to up attendance. If anything similar to this idea comes to pass I would help promote it.

Did the season ticket holders get a refund on the £12.50 price.No. The crowd numbers showed that the prices are too high and a lot of people CANNOT afford it. The crowds have dropped not because of the Football, it coincides with the Benefits review and other cuts on peoples income. It would be beneficial for Barnsley to have all the crowd back supporting their team. This could keep us in the Championship. Drop all the pricing to £22 and £20 for members. The season tickets would be Pro rata

Got to say Homer,I think you're right, incomes are really being squeezed, utility bills, insurance ,vehicle running costs etc have been spiralling over the past few years and it's just hitting home.I'm not so sure we need to reduce ST prices, at £13-14 a match it's not a bad deal compared to most other clubs, but the £25 -£30 bracket is definitely too much to pay on the gate(we love the away fixtures but £25 is a maximum for us,and only then for a particularly tasty fixture),and well meaning though the 125 membership deal is,you really have to be a regular to know about it,and the idea about buying the tickets 90mins(or whatever it is)before the game is a non starter, its just too complicated and p****s people off,I was in the box office and hearing a bloke complaining he'd had to pay £18 for his child when he had heard it was £8,it would be much better to leave it just at £8 and don't risk alienating the occasionals......who may become regulars.
It's a tricky situation for the club, but if the fans will pay on the gate when the prices are cheaper, its better to have them than not at all.I think theres a lot of dads out there who will pay £20-£25 if the kids can get in cheap.

If your mates we're proper fans they would have got married in the close season. Getting married in the season = no commitment. Jog on complaining honeymooners. :)
    Next objection?

Says she, who got married in October! We were playing away that Saturday though, I do recall. And the best photo (for me) of your wedding day was taken as I told you that we had just scored - the delight on your face!!! Ha ha.

The more fans in Oakwell the better so any incentive to get fans back is worth considering. Let us know if you get a response and how your idea is received.
