    No,Dave,i lived on Worsboro Rd,when Bennetts had the Ice cream
    i am not a grummitt,i am a gray
    my Brother is on there,
    he signed for Barnsley,worked at Pillley,when they said you will have to go in the Army,he said,Oh ARRR,rip rip,and tore it to pieces
    The centre half got Killed at el alamein Owen Sellers,
    the Goali Lost a leg in world war 11, his dad Lost a leg in world war 1,
    bothe were called horace Walker
    i still say 50 quid to who can spot my Brother,
    it was 1939,....i willgive to Hume fund
    but not you George Ropbledo,
    who i saw play at Birdwell

That will save us some money - nar can tha put a bit more milk in this teea

    I worked for Bennets Ice Cream at Birdwell. After I had done a shift at Monkton Coliery 6am - 1-30pm. Ice Cream 2-30pm to 7-30pm.

    Lovely Ice Cream. I got to have the first scoop off the top of the churn when I collected the van. This was the creamy part on top.

    Is that a local cup final Bob? Looks like a decent crowd there.</p>

    I remember when I was a younster in the late 50's the Beckett Cup Final would attract a few thousand to watch.</p>

    Ward Green won it one year and they drove round t'village in a single decker bus!

    yes 1939,Birdwell Rovers Lost to Darton
    also the inside left Jimmy Grummitt
    played for Grimethorpe,against Birdwelll and scored the only Goal
    went on to play for Halifax,during the war,
    then Lincoln city
    beckets cup final at Oakwell
    Birdwell Rover had a good side in them days
    in my first year as a 14 year old,
    played in the 16 to18 finall against woolley,we lost 6 5
    Arthur Holland ws a linesman
    oh happy days
