    A graduation photo

    Kings Hall at Newcastle University is a wood panelled room. There's a photo of me sat in the corner, in my black gown, mortar board on head and certificate on lap. Friends commented that it looks kind of like the old photo of the Reverend Preedy (a google image search on his name finds the one I mean). Resultantly, when I got my first PC shortly after I graduated, I signed on at the first incarnation of this BBS under the name "The Reverend Preedy's Spectre".

    Some time later the site admin of the day changed the forum script. The new script had a limitation on the number of characters in your username which was too short for my full moniker. So I shortened it to Revvie P. The script which flummoxed me is long since history but it was in place for so long it seemed futile to change it back, so Revvie P it stayed.

    Addio was the football reporter in Private Eye. Though he only reported on Neasden FC, managed by the ashen faced supremo Ron Knee (59) and closely followed by their two supporters Sid and Doris Bonkers.

    Because

    my former nom de plume, "Slartybardfarst" a character from Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, was picked purely because I couldn't imagine anybody else choosing it.

    I eventually became tired of such a long name and in the mean time the missus was carrying my first born. We were thinking of potential names for the young un and I kept "joking" to the missus and family that if it was a boy, I would call him spartacus, at least for a middle name. I liked the scene of the strike film where loads of miners are banged up and the copper reads out a name and asks them to step forward and in parody of the epic, all the arrested miners stand and say "I'm spartacus"

    Anyway when eventually my son was born I decided to change my tag to Spartacus as the missus wouldn't take on board my middle name suggestion. (chinny)
