On FM2005 - top of La Liga by 3 pts with Deportivo mid-way through season.

Just had a run of 3 successive games against Real Madrid, won 3-0 at home in 1st leg of cup quarter final, won 2-0 at home in league.....22 games unbeaten in all competitions. Not lost since opening game of season at Real Madrid.
2nd leg of cup....3-2 up in first half....ended up losing 7-3!!! Fecking crazy game...last 10 mins we battered them and had one where the ball was heading for goal and then stopped dead just before the line!

2nd in league 1 with 8 games to go.....

I have struggled a bit with this one ie with hardly any money or owt. How does eveyone manage to go straight through to prem?

I bet its got nowt to do with editing the bank balance at the start...

THE KEY IS GETTING LOAN PLAYERS IN AND NOT CONTRIBUTING ANYTHING TO WAGES.

your limited 2 four players though...

who do you recommend, and what positions...

as I think I need a couple more just to give me that extra push

Potter from Liverpool reserves is a very good midfielder.

I also got a GK with an italian name from Portsmouth as backup to Colgan and he was quality.

Also Man U are usually ok to loan some of their young strikers out and I got one to play alongside Hayes and the pair of the got 25 goals each.

Adam Green from Fulham is available and is a good left sided player.

4-4-2 is what I play with the right hand striker holding the ball up. Play direct passing. Play a pressing game aswell.

    Hope that helps.

    cheers 4 that..

Think I will play around with the tactics in the new pre-season. Too close at the moment for comfort to start playing around with it now.

Cheers for advice, will look into them...

All the African national teams have at least 1 good player

    you sign them for peanuts.

Also now that a few more countries from Eastern Europe are in the EU there are loads of Polish / Czech / Slovenians who you can sign.

Also China are good for the odd bargain as well.

Also you can sell players for a lot of money on this version.

i.e. you can get 500K+ for Reid , this enables you to fill up the squad.

Get a load of coahes in and give them 1 assignment each , try and keep the workload light.

    Chris Barker
    Liam Ridgewell *
    Chris Riggott (just signed)
    Matthew Kilgallon *

I’ve started it on a few different computers. Normally get 1mil for McSnail and 500k for Reid almost straight away. They are good players but I cash in then struggle through the first season with freebies. Don’t spend the cash (I got promoted without doing it, but don't worry if not) then the next season when you are offered a contract (2006) ask for the budget to be put towards wages rather than transfer kitty. Now go out and pick up some freebies (there are always loads on the second season) and you have the wage structure to bring in some real top top quality. If you have a big kitty but a lowly wage structure even if you find someone to buy for 500k+ they will want more than 2k a week which would be your wage budget anyway if you had put the cash towards the kitty. Makes sense to me anyway.

You can request where the funds go?

That's good - I've not got FM06 (unlikely it will run on my machine) but one of the things that annoys me on FM05 is not being able to give reasonable wages when I've got £30m to spend on transfers!

RE: You can request where the funds go?

You get a contract yourself as a manager (why it matters how much you earn? i always take the smallest amount, i'm only robbing from my own funds if i ask for a bigger wage). Each time it runs out and you are offered another the board says something like: "you are being offered 5k a week for two years with a budget of 500k to spend and a wage budget for players of 20k a week in total, there are a number of options available to you" click on negotiate and you can choose different amounts. take 100k for spending and you can afford 10k a week for wages in total. take 500k as kitty and get 70k a week in total for an example. there were about 5 different options given to me raging in value.

    I knew what you meant!

Had it on a previous manager game like that - alwasy take the smallest salary possible and put rest into wages for players - probably the bit that makes it unrealistic unless it sees you as a poor manager if you want peanuts

Goalie is Guatelli - had him on FM05 for a few seasons, excellent.

Not sure if he's as good on FM06 as on FM05 but try getting Rossi on loan from Man Utd......had him for a season and he got 25 goals before moving to Italy.

Lupoli who starts at Arsenal turns into a decent player as well.
