and say "he never had control"? If the players won't stop fouling each other then what else can the ref do?!
Which is what? I get annoyed when commentators say things like "If he hadn't already been booked he'd have been off" The rules are plain and simple....a bookable offence is just that and it should make no difference whatsoever if the player has previously been booked or not....2 bookings and they walk. Funny though - earlier one of the commentators was talking about possibly introducing sinbins for technical offences which was something I've been mentioning
Well said It's the ill discipline of the players at fault and the FIFA rulebook - not the ref. A bit hasty with a couple of cards but had little option with most. You can't go ignoring things cos there's already been some sendings off, like the commentator seemed to be suggesting!
The referee deserves to be struck off for one simple mistake.. Booking Figo when the cameras show that he CLEARLY didn't see the incident. And Deco's second yellow was also laughable.
RE: Which is what? Diving is a bookable offence too, how many did he book for diving?. i doubt there would have been as many cards if he'd have booked those diving early on.
yep a couple of early yellows should have warned the players there would be no nonsense tolerated.
They called his bluff time and time again and ultimately sufferred.
I think it's a nice change that all this "injustice" is happening to other teams and not us - or even worse, Barnsley.
Portugal has, by its own actions, weakened its position in the next round against us.
Those are the rules of the game. Ballax to 'em. Hope they suffer.

RE: The referee deserves to be struck off for one simple mistake.. What if the ref booked Figo for something that he did see and the cameras didn't pick up?
