Absolutely gutted to read the news about Winnall this morning. What concerns me now is the knock on effect this will have on other players. This team could be very special in what it achieves and where it could go. To see our lynchpin and talismatic top scorer sold under our noses to our hated local rivals hurts beyond belief. Having met Winnal, I'm of the personal opinion that he did not have the affinity with the fans (on his part) or the Club that the others have shown. This is just my personal opinion, added to by his attitude to the fans on Saturday at B!ackpool, hands on hols shaking his head at the moronic element booing. This is the only thing comforting me right now, scant comfort indeed. This is a massive, massive smack in the teeth for Hecky and for all us fans. I really wonder if the club realises just how much this hurts. No doubt we will be told that he "Wanted to go !" , but that's not good enough, we didn't need the money, he was still under contract. The Club has some explaining to do today, this after the wonderful togetherness, feeling as one , moving forwards with something special. All rubbish, because in the end, it's all about money. Money and a blind failure to allow contracts to run down to a level whereby other clubs can waltz in and take advantage of our failure. Now, to watch what happens with our other players. Absolutely gutted, to Wednesday ! Any club but them, any club ! .
Bree is next to leave. And looks like Hourihane will follow Winnall to Wednesday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
wow that's gonna take some explaining , leading scorer to play off rival for derisory fee , should have made sam see his contract out , in reserves if necessary.
I really don't see how they can explain this. "Players come, players go", "He wanted to go", excuses are simply not acceptable. This press conference should be very interesting indeed. Feel for Hecky.
All the hard work and bridge building has been undone. Selling one of our best players to Wednesday, in January when they're only four points ahead of us is disgraceful. I'm thoroughly hacked off right now.
Exactly this. If he threw his toys out he should have been sent to the reserves. I'd rather he sat his contract out here doing nothing than strengthen the team of a play off rival.
That's just it Mario. I fear that we're going to be told that he wanted to go ! That excuse is simply not good enough , it won't wash with me.
Remember we are just customers . The club say that we are important but this confirms that we mean nothing because , they know, like sheep , we just keep following .
Way OTT. Bradshaw is as good, if not better, and if he bangs a few in during the rest of Jan, SSW will be nothing but a fond memory. And if that happens, we sort out his contract as a 'lesson learned'.
As disappointing as it is to lose Sam for such a measly sum to a rival. Imo he is the most replaceable of our 'stars'. Marley moves up top with Bradshaw, Hammill and Kent out wide. It would be inexcusable to lose another player outside of silly money for Bree though. Selling Hourihane for anything less than 3m would spark an exodus. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree that the club will blame Winall while trying to justify the paltry fee!! Step forward The Don Mark II!
Not sure if that's agreement or sarcasm? Would be interesting to see goals per minute played but I'm crap at searching for things like that. FWIW, I liked Sam. I'll remember him the same way as I remembered Glavin, Hignett, Aylott, Ward etc ..... for his contribution to the club. That said, he had his faults (the sulks?) and I agree with Tina he sometimes looked like he didn't have the same affinity. The one thing that grinds is that it is 'them'. I'm too fond of him to contemplate him becoming the next Bogdanovic / Howard. He is too good to just disappear with a nice payslip.
You may be right and I hope you are. I believe Bradshaw is a very good player but that sort of misses the point for me. We have sold one of our best players and top goal scorer to not only a hated local rival but also a play off rival in January. We have given a play off rival additional ammunition to help them finish above us. I find this very disappointing and once again raises the question mark about the clubs genuine ambition.
