Having scraped through by the skin of his teeth last season, this season he started with just 16 senior pro's in the squad plus 8 young players who where there to be developed and included in games when the time was right for them. The senior pro's consisted of: - 2 goalkeepers - 2 right footed full backs - 0 left footed full backs - 2 central defenders (one of which has the biggest arse in a pair of barnsley shorts since Jan Molby and the turning circle of the QE2 ) - 3 right sided midfielders (yes three!!) (two of which who couldn't put a decent cross in if their life depended on it) - 1 left sided midfielder (who Davey clearly doesn't fancy and would struggle to get in the Dog and Duck 5th XI) - 2 central midfielders (one of which is injured) - 4 strikers (one who is seeing out the tail end of his career and is overweight and 3 yards short of the pace, one "Carlos Kick a Ball" who could potentially score goals but Davey keeps playing wide right, one who everyone gave up on years ago and one who spent most of last season injured and is clearly not ready for a full return) I'm not ignoring the fact that two or three more senior pro's may or may not come in at some point, but the fact that he's not got a balanced squad with adequate cover in all positions and that during pre season he only attracted one senior pro who was capable of walking into the first XI (a third right winger), may mean he's gone before those new players arrive.
