One of the worst players on the pitch. In fact on that performance one of the worse players on any pitch yesterday afternoon. Between him and Jacob 'I only give a **** when I've got the ball' Mellis we were never going to get anything from the game.
Motm is given by the match day sponsors. Go sponsor a game then you can give your motm which no one will dispute.
name out the hat that one. difficult to pick anyone from such an abject team effort. at a push, i went with goldie, purely for his two goal line clearances
Yeah I thought it was a slightly bizarre call too. He got dominated in midfield and should have passed more, rather than trying to hold onto it for the sake of it. The best of a bad bunch, for me, was Goldy yesterday. One of few players who looked to be on their level technically. Speaking of which, where has the MOTM/BBS POTY thread gone, where we post our top 3???
Perkins didn't hide, I will say that, but he has to try and use his team mates more. On a few occasions he could have played someone in but tried to beat another man and got dispossessed. MOTM for me was O'Grady. He won a lot of aerial ball against a big defence. Unfortunately the support wasn't there yesterday.
I thought he did a very good job of hiding every time they had the ball. Instead of doing this radical thing called marking somebody he did a Hugo Colace and went and stood 10 yards away from anybody. The only time he showed himself for the ball was when he trotted back and stood next to the back four asking for them to pass it 6 inches to him so he could then pass it to another defender.
Certainly not his best game. I'd have gone with Golbourne or O'Grady, as the posters above have stated. Golbourne really for his goal-line clearances that prevented an absolute rout, and doing a disciplined job completely out of position. O'Grady for holding his own completely on his own with very very limited support from anyone.
If the sponsor wants to meet a player then that'll sway the decision. Couldn't see anyone who did a decent shift.
Think its incredibly harsh to say O'Grady didn't put in a decent shift. Only so much you can do with absolutely no service whatsoever. Held it up well, ran with it well, actually put in a really good cross at 2-0 that ended up falling to Perkins with a decent chance if he hadn't airkicked.
