Barnsley FC used to represent the values of its town and its people. It fought against bigger, more prosperous neighbours, it didnt suffer fools, it gave regular two fingered salutes to over zealous officialdom and governments and its teams always battled against the odds, sometime successfully, often not. But it retained its pride. Compare it with now. We are now managed in an overly complex corporate management style, on and off the pitch, with seemingly little internal understanding (odd exception) of what the club should represent. And it's all essentially a load of bulls*it, bloody painful to see. FFS, football is still a simple game.
Nowt really, more cumulative effect of 7 defeats and long periods of poor performances and boring football. Fallen out with football generally, BFC's current predicament just rubbing it in and perhaps reflects how the game has changed, rightly or wrongly, from what I've described.
