Airport police will turn away any supporter who has been thrown out of a game, a Daily Star Sunday probe has found. Fans thought to have caused trouble - however minor - will be stopped, even if they do not have a football banning order. Police are studying incidents at international games in England and Wales, plus matches from the Premier League down to League Two. It will even include Tottenham fans chucked out for taking part in the controversial "Y*d Army" chant. A Scotland Yard football officer said: "This will be the strictest World Cup ever and some fans who have no doubt spent hundreds of pounds to get out there will be in for a nasty shock. "Football clubs from all over the country are being asked to provide a list of fans who have been done for trouble-making over this season and last. "This could mean if you were just chucked out of a game on one occasion you could be on the naughty list. "The Force has taken the view they would rather be over-cautious than under, but measures are extreme." As of last September, there were 2,451 rowdy fans on football banning orders, preventing them from attending any match. But a further 2,456 were arrested last year, during the 2012/13 season. “A total of 471 new orders were put in place by courts last season alone” Our source added: "The official banning order number could be just the tip of the iceberg. We are talking thousands being told 'no' if they are seen as potential troublemakers." A total of 471 new orders were put in place by courts last season alone. Cardiff City top the list as having the worst-behaved fans in the Premier League, with 121 currently on banning orders. Chelsea come in a close second with 110 orders. In the Championship, 611 fans have been stopped from supporting their team. Leeds have seen 72 fans banned - the most in the league - followed by Millwall with 65. Last week three Tottenham fans were told they would face charges over anti-Semitic chanting. Gary Whybrow, 31, Sam Parsons, 24, and Peter Ditchman, 52, will appear in court next month accused of the racially aggravated offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words by using the word "Y*d". Our officer continued: "The fact is there are concerns about this World Cup. It is in a country with a high crime rate and we want everything to go smoothly, so if, as a fan, you have problems here, we won't let you go abroad." A Football Association spokesman said: "We have tightened up because of historic incidents but we haven't had any arrests at all in the last three tournaments."
So if any Barnsley fan as been chucked out on one occasion but never banned , he could lose all the money he has paid to go to Brazil Even though he or she have not been banned from matches
Surly any fan on any such "naughty" list should be notified at the same time the info is given by the club. why would they let fans spend money and then tell them at last minute that they cant go, when they have known all along
Would be interesting to see them stop fans from leaving the country for Germany, Spain or France, then picking up another flight out to Brazil (booked separately) - or are they going to stop all the fans on the naughty list from leaving the country for an entire month?
a few thoughtss Its in the Daily Star so it may not be completely true I have no problem with known trouble makers subject to banning orders or recent prosecutions being blocked I have a big problem if people with no charges ever sucessfully brought against them are banned from travel. you cant stop people getting on a plane because someone somewhere with no checks or balances put them on a list because they think they might not be an angel At the very least anyone on a list should be told so and given a chance to get themselves removed in advance not to be stopped at a departure airport
Wharrabart if you get chucked into a ground like at Wendy where they hire bouncers to throw them in does that count
They'll be stopping people at the airport asking for their details, if you've been in trouble for anything or have any current proceedings against you ,even if unproven, they'll keep you until your flight has gone. Thats anything, not even football related, the Police can keep you without charge pending 'enquiries'. They were doing it at the last Euros
If there's a statement by the FSF on this, it's worth worrying about. If not, it's Daily Star ********
Looking at the events in Brazil at the moment the riots that started in the favelas have just reached the tourist bit! I'd be glad to get turned away!!! It looks mental out there
Probably to all destinations, those who are banned must give up their passports for the duration of the tournament.
