I would see it really hard to compete even in league 2 with such a limited financial model. Thoughts? Keep in mind that overall they charge more for season tickets and sell more than BFC currently do. I would see us at best competing at league 2 level with not much scope for improving the facilities etc.....
Re: How feasible would you think an ownership model like at Portsmouth would work at They have 15k supporters in the bottom division. If they can't make it work nobody can.
You could probably run the club on fan ownership but transfer funds would be tricky I bet...unless there's a supporter with serious £££
Re: How feasible would you think an ownership model like at Portsmouth would work at Portsmouth are making it work. Via 3 main methods however They sold a load of land to a property developer who then also loaned them some major cash, they now have a tesco on the land adjacent the ground They have 5 "high net worth" individuls as owners who stumped up a load of cash each (we are talking millions) They sold shares in the trust at £1000 each, this generated nearly £3 million quid. The trust get 3 seats on the board and hold a "share" in the club approaching 45% They also sell 12,000 season tickets to the idiots who seem to turn up no matter what. They claim to be the best fans in the world etc but we've all been to Pompey in the second tier and there's been 5000 there, not too long since as well.
Re: How feasible would you think an ownership model like at Portsmouth would work at Portsmouth is a far richer town and with a greater population than Barnsley, so I do not (having offered to buy 1,000 of 40,000 shares in 1966 of which less than 9,000 were taken up), there is no chance of it working.
Re: How feasible would you think an ownership model like at Portsmouth would work at Not very is my opinion on this.
