Here's what I know. Up until this season he has always appeared to give his all. He has been a vocal captain (although I don't agree with mouthing at certain players, when you go and try the same thing yourself and lose the ball). He's been our main source of goals to be fair, some even spectacular, some also penalties, which go down in my book as good as any other type of goal - they equal the same thing at the end of the day.
Now, what I don't understand. Some people are saying that him not being in the team on Saturday cost us 2 points through missing the penalty. I don't buy that. Who says that Howard WOULD have scored that goal? Just because he hasn't previously missed doesn't mean he's not immune to missing. The keeper can always guess the right way or get lucky. And another thing. Just because he's no longer in our side does NOT mean nobody will score. Maybe, just maybe now he's gone, a player may replace him who is actually willing to pass the ball to a striker rather than try to do everything himself. Maybe his replacement won't score as many goals as him, but he may create a damn site more. This we do not know until the new midfield combination has been given a chance together. I seem to recall we had a great win at Watford last season without him. Now is the time for other players to stand up and be counted. We are not a one man team - and if we were I would give the credit to Anderson, not Bri.
I do wish Bri all the best, and he has done a very good job for the club. I just hope like another poster said earlier that this was his club and we have had his best years. £600k for someone out of contract at the end of the season isn't bad business I don't think. If his heart isn't at this club then we're gonna be better off without him
(shithappens)

excellent post and good on you for pointing out all the mouth he makes at other players when it's not always called for. that was one thing that annoyed me about him. Still sad to see him go and under these circumstances
There's no way Bri would have scored that penalty If he had been playing the entire course of the game would have been completely different and we wouldn't have been given that penalty.
We might have had a different penalty - but that one simply wouldn't have happened.

RE: Good post. Also, Macken hadn't previously missed a penalty upto that one! nt We should be glad that Macken shot at goal with the penalty, i thought he might have passed it out to the wing. As for Howard you dont improve your team letting your best players go.
Sellected in the Championship team of last season Just been stollen from us for £500k and goes into a team that is a season out of the Premeirship where the centre forward Beattie earns £39,000 per week So on that evidence..................the best player in that position in the Championship But I suppose many of the Barnsley fans just say that he's w@nk. Give us a break FFS
So just because he's hit 25 means he's guaranteed to get even better? I said "hope" he's had his best years at Oakwell FFS! As regards Oddjob, maybe when they say "come good" they mean his new porno role "Oddjobs Oddballs".
