What will be our line up against cov?

Its looking like this right now

Colgan
Bruma Reid Hassell Kozluk

Devaney Howard Togwell Ricketts

Ferenczi Mostto

I quite like this on paper, obviously there are many question marks about 3 or 4 of these lads. plus we still need a centre half.

The team is shaping up like this................

Current squad.............bottom 10 finish but better and safer than last season
However, another few players in key positions, such as goalkeeper, 2 centre backs and another forward........and we could be looking at middle to just outside the top six

Greatly depends on who is brought in over the next few weeks and whether the players gell as a team
Fingers crossed

Thing is, we need to hit the ground running...........and

The longer it takes to get all the players together the longer it will take SD to knit the players together
I'm expecting a slow start to the season

Nearly every team is in the same boat.

If you dont mind I would like to be optimistic for this season as I was last season.

3 wins from 5 at the beginning of the season.

You sometimes have to wonder

If Nudger really wants Barnsley to do well.

He does, but his black dog yearns to savour the sweet taste of defeat.

RE: Nearly every team is in the same boat............I don't think so

Barnsley are going through a restructuring of the whole team (as a result of the Ritchie era)
So no, we are starting from a different position to most clubs in the division
Other clubs build year on year.
I think this season we are more or less starting from scratch.
It reminds me of the early Gudjon days. New Manager - New Team

Hull, Leicester, Coventry to name a few who are starting from scratch. You could throw Norwich and Charlton into that aswell.

After hearing Davey i'm becoming more and more confident about the season. The guy appears to know what he's talking about, from what I've heard the amount of time they put into planning traning / fitness can only benefit us from the start and the new signings all appear confident who have spoken out.

Agree on the fact we still need 3 more signings, but it is looking good.

I wonder how long Ritchie will have to have left Barnsley before anything that goes wrong stops being his fault ?

THE RITCHIE ERA GOT US IN THIS DIVISION

You Simpleton.
Every time we change the manager , he changes the whole team, thats just how it goes.
Remember Spackman, Parkin etc.
Different managers see things altogether differently. Davey still hasnt signed a Centre Half yet, are there none to be had in the bargain basement of the Continent?????????? Or does he seriously think that Reid is good enough???

Nobody should ever dismiss the job Ritchie did for us.

He got us out of that hellhole league and into this one, and he did it in a refreshing manner. I'll never forget it, and I'll never forget the role he played in it.

I liked Ritchie and was staggered when we appointed Davey - but I have come around to him. He talks sense, and whether people accept it or not, he kept us in this league. Ferenczi, Rajczi and Nyatanga were probably the difference between us being in Championship now looking to push on, or being in League One.

He talks a hell of lot of sense. Ritchie and Davey both have their strengths, but we have Davey now, and its firmly time to get behind him and the club.

People questioning whether Davey honestly doesn't think we need new centre halves, don't be stupid. I strongly expect us to have a new goalkeeper, and 2 new centre-halves in a weeks time.

RE: Ritchie was that good.......................he

Oh get a feckin grip man! fair enough if you think he was crap, and yes he was too loyal, and did'nt dip into the market enough, but what were saying is he left the football club in 10 times a better state than it was when he was appointed, he's ended up contributing a hell of a lot to reducing the clubs debt, and to me if a manager leaves the club in a better state in which he found it in, there can't be too many complaints.

Which bit didnt you understand

Under Ritchie we got promoted.
Why cant you understand that.
Yes the board must be Simpletons because THEY MADE HIM THE MANAGER, not us on here.
The likes of you and others started the campaign to get rid opf him , even before the promotion.
The guys on here , by that I assume you mean Johnny Coachman. He knows **** all about anything.
Having a coaching badge does not make you an expert on things

It must have really upset you that Barnsley, the club you say you support, got promoted. It proved you wrong and you couldnt stand that , so you started a campaign to get rid and it worked.
So Well done , I am glad you are happy now, sorry you`re not , even tho` Ritchie left 8 months ago its still his fault.
GROW UP

RE: Which bit didnt you understand

Why bring me into this.

Just because I was right about Ritchie not coaching the side when we were in danger of going back to the Ale House League.

The only thing I did was to go down to training to see what he was doing to correct the situation we were in.

The answer was he was doing nothing. He was quite happy to see us go back down. He had a belief that we over achieved to get promoted and he did sod all to keep us up.

Nothing I posted could be challenged because I told as it was. No rose tinted glasses.

I'm sorry if I offended the Ritchie Fan Club who couldn't see the just how bad a job he was doing.

Thank **** that Shep was keeping an eye on the situation and got shut of Ritchie and Holden before they took us back down.

Oh, and thank **** Davey was around to instill some professionalism in to the Ale House culture of the players.

(wicked)
