sorry mate they stay on your license for 3 years. You still have to declare them for 5 years as you have received a fixed penalty notice in accordance with 1974 rehabilitation of offenders act
RE: sorry mate so after 3 years do you send you licence off to have them removed? or does it just mean they dont count to your running total so to speak?
yeah send them off mate and are removed - in effect you have a clean licence. Don't make the mistake of not informing your insurers that you had a conviction in the last 5 years though. when people ask if you have a clean licence you can say "yes". just send it off to the dvla and your points are wiped
ah right on there website i was waffaling on about 3 years then 4 years for this and so forth. confusing as hell. Phoned them up today and its all automated you get nowhere
I recently went on a 'speeding awareness' course instead of getting 3 points, and they told us there how it works and there are actually three things to note: 1) Points count for the totting up system for 3 years. 2) Points must stay on your licence for 4 years, after which time you can apply to have them removed - costs about £20. 3) Speeding convictions must be declared to insurers for a period of 5 years. hope this helps,
thank for that So after 3 years they do not count to the running total? so it would be possible to have 12 points for example and not be banned. Then after 4 years you have them removed? have i got the gist right?
What happens is You are deemed have deliberately provided your insurers was false information. As such you are in breach of contract and thus not insured. NOT worth the risk.
That is my understanding They only count towards the running total for 3 years. After 4 years you may have them removed from your licesce. However, speeding is a conviction and is not considered spent until 5 years from the conviction date. As such, insurers are entirely within their rights to ask about convictions within the last 5 years, and failure to disclose may render your insurance invalid.
deliberate non-disclosure happens all the time, we void the policies and our "former client" is sued for the 3rd party's costs people never learn
right thank i only have the 3 and there are up for 3 years on 2nd of feb. Was just curious when i need them removing but it is another year. Told insurance straight away not worth the risk is it.
I've got 12 points on mine but only 6 are active, as the other 6 were "won" over 3 years ago. totting up only applies for 3 years but they stay on for another year or two extra just so the insurance companies can **** you over on premiums.
never lie to insurers seriously mate - people do it with us and they end up f###ed 3 years for licence - trust me. get em removed in feb
wrong 1974 rehabilitation of offenders act fines disclosable for 4 years fixed penalties for 5 that's why legally you have to declare
hmmm says on dvla website is four years. dvla just managed to find it today it is confusing to me though(banghead)
RE: its up to you just get conflicted opnions about when they removable so to speak. Its just dvla are hell to contact.
