before a manager realises that it would maybe have been better just to sub him in the first place? Would conceding one goal do it? What about two? I reckon we were holding out for five yesterday.

    Hindsight, foresight etc etc.

Does seem a bit harsh for us to be effectively down to 10 men for no fault of our own (no fault of Burnley either I might add). Maybe we should be allowed blood subs as in rugby.

Why were the Burnley fans booing Souza?

Surely the fact he went off to get treatment and we conceded twice during his absence would suggest to them it was a genuine injury!! (lol)

Started booing him because he was showing the linesman / ref that he was kicked in the face. Didn't want to leave the pitch either!

By my count Souza must have left the pitch for stitches 5 times this season.

I think because of the way he reacted. By his gestures it looked like he kept telling the ref he was kicked in the face - presumably deliberately. Don't matter that they scored twice while he was off for treatment he was still the bad guy

Fair to Souza the players foot did hit him in the face but the state of the pitch / weather didn't help.

You couldn't play down the side of the pitch near dug-outs, but the Ref was never going to call it off with home side winning.

Souza's an absolute joke. He must go off the field at least once a game, and the vast majority of goals come from Souza mistakes. He simply aint good enough, and no him not being good enough has nowt to do with him going off regularly, thats just something that winds me up.

What games you been at? He's useless. Get a decent partner for Nyatanga next season and we'll be half way there.

    Agreed

donnytyke - are you sure you've been watching Barnsley? Souza is a class apart from most of the side. Wins everything in the air and appears very cool under pressure. Outstanding in recent weeks.

Are you lot having a laugh? Nyatanga is head, shoulders and head again above Souza.

Nyatanga will be out the door in a flash if we don't stay up.

I would assume that was part of the "with a view to a permanent deal".

Souza has off days, and I agree that Nyatanga is better, but I think Souza has played well in a lot of games this season. Very harsh criticism, and to criticise him for getting elbowed in the face repeatedly is pretty unfair. I guess we'd prefer a centre half who stood off and didn't put his head in where it hurts.

Think we look a lot more comfortable when he plays.

Never said I didn't like him for constantly going off, I said that really annoys me. But, if you watch the majority of our goals conceded away from home, you'll notice how in some way, Souza could have done better, watch clips, I gaurentee I won't be proven wrong!

And watch him in a lot of games at home and realise he's saved us from conceding a lot of goals.

We concede far too many goals from crosses - and people automatically attribute that to the centre halves. Its the rest of the team that are allowing teams to get to the byline and constantly cross the ball under no pressure.

We're crap away from home not because of Dennis Souza, but because we play with dubious tactics and none of the players seem to play to their potential away from Oakwell. Same old story - we don't take our chances, in turn putting too much pressure on the defence, we concede. You're only as good as your strikers.
