lets hope its more than a couple of thou' and have a decent atmosphere because, truth be told, this is the biggest game of our season. how fücking sad is that? ff
I think Huddersfield will be a bigger game, they'll bring more than Donny I reckon and there'll be a better atmosphere. I just don't see Donny as a big game - it might be for them but not for us. Might have something to do with there being Huddersfield and Bradford fans at work though so for me they are the big games.
"I don't see Donny as Big game" The taking the p*ss out of us for the past year. It is now very personal. (battered)
Doncaster isn't and never will be a big game. I want us to win, of course, just like I want us to win every game. It would be nice to shut their chairman up, but I'd say the same if we were playing, for example, Crystal Palace after Simon Jordan had been mouthing off. Rotherham is a bigger game for Barnsley.
Donny is a MUCH bigger game than Rotherham cos unless you've been living in a cocoon for the last 12 months, you'll be aware that last season they embarrassed us 7-1 on aggregate. kicked us off the park at home, and nothing short of a dicking at their place. After playing extra time and penalties last night, and considering their start to the season, if we lose, I for one will be baying for Ritchies blood. FACT.
RE: Donny is a MUCH bigger game than Rotherham Yes, they did. I remember that, of course. However, does that make Port Vale a massive game because they beat us 5-0 last season? Is Barnsley a big game for Birmingham City because of the 4-0 play-off game? Are matches against Norwich or Leicester any more important than the others because they happened to relegate us in the recent past? Or what about Ipswich - arguably we can 'blame' them for our decline since 2000? I'm no more excited about playing Doncaster than I was Swindon. In fact, Swindon stirred the passions more because it was the opening day of the season after a summer of anticipation.
Do you live anywhere near Barnsley? cos you're in a total minority mate. read the press, listen to the media, just look what the website will show quoting the players and the manager. get real mate, Donny is a huge game. a defining moment in our season in fact.
RE: Do you live anywhere near Barnsley? Cant believe what I'm reading this is a very very depressing thought, Donny rovers the bigest game of the season, in the words of Victor Milldrew you cannot be serious.
Hope no Rovers fans read this thread they'll have chips bigger than the dee dahs.

RE: Do you live anywhere near Barnsley? Yes. I'm not far from Barnsley at all. I just don't see how such a game can get the juices flowing. Maybe I'm getting old, but Doncaster mean absolutely nothing to me. If anything, it saddens me that we've plummeted so far that a lot of our fans are 'up' for such a game. Once again, I hope we win. I hope we win every match we play. But as for waking up in the morning with a sense of anticipation about the afternoon - no chance. Now, Huddersfield, I shall be excited about.
Its last seasons games and comments that have stoked up the fire, added to the geographical proximity and the fact that a defeat puts us back down the league and spoils a decent run. Must win game.
I think some of the responses to this post show that certain individuals have yet to accept that Barnsley are playing the third tier of English football. As such Donny Rovers are now one of our main rivals. Geographically they are one of the closest clubs to Barnsley. They humiliated us twice last season and that hurt. It's time for revenge. (
RE: I think some of the responses I'm quite aware of our present status. Just can't get excited about Doncaster.
