    Ritchie prefers Conlon

I don't think he likes his forwards scoring goals.

No doubt its Conlon's fault were three down

    FFS

We need a feckin defence and a fecking midfield before we criticise the fecking forwards..

Oh and Hayes got a bagful has he?

Have I said that Spartacus? Have I?

    FFS yourself.

Wayne asked what's up with Nardiello and I said Ritchie prefers Conlon. How many goals have we scored in the last few games by the way?

And if you look at my posts tonight you'll see that I put the blame at this defeat at the hands of us not signing enough defenders.

I don't rate Conlon, get over it.

Suppose not but the inference is present.

I dont think BBB is the answer to owt but Nardiello is idle & glass backed and to be honest weve nowt better.

No forwards will score many with such an unproductive midfield and shambolic defence.

    Wroe..not good enough
    Kay..not good enough
    Austin..not good enoug
    Colgan..not good enough
    Hassle..not good enough
McPhail..not good enough (and that is the most galling)

    need I go on

Im bored and embarassed Im by BFC

I'd argue that a couple of them are good enough

But that's just opinion. I'm not blaming Conlon for tonight's defeat. If you concede 3 goals it doesn't matter how good your strikers are, you are going to lose. But I don't think Conlon is up to much. He should have definitely scored on Saturday.

The squad is too small. We were always going to struggle with so little cover. And buying players with broken bones when you can only afford such a small squad was just daft.

    OK...which couple out of interest?

Its pretty dificult to really assess!!!

We are severely lacking a ball winning dominating midfielder & Centre half. With a couple of quality players in these positions perhaps a couple of my list could begin to show a bit more polish..

    ..perhaps

RE: OK...which couple out of interest?

I think Hassell has improved immeasurably since we first signed him. I thought he was awful for the first few months last season but he got better and better as the season went on. He's not a centre half though. He had some decent games there towards the end of last season, but he's too small.

And I've still got hopes for the much maligned Kay. I know he made a lot of errors last season and he didn't cover himself with glory with that tackle on Saturday, but I still think he could make a decent midfielder. He needs a number of games in that position without being asked to cover at every other position when someone is injured. But with the squad being so small and Carbon being so injury prone I don't think he'll get it. It's a shame; we've turned a very good prospect in to someone who no longer looks comfortable in any position because every week he plays somewhere different.

    kay

so one week a midfielder, the next a defender, were not askin him to be a surgeon one day, an optician(hehe) the next, surely its not hard to concentrate for 90 mins on what he's doin, he plays football apparently, nowt else, all day, every day, he isn't good enough

agree to an extent about hassle..playing alongside reid + quality c/h

Kay..well..could make a squad midfielder but I remain unconvinced he will ever be a 1st choice midfielder.

Defender..bloody no chance the boys a liability.

I'm starting to think that ritchie is deliberately instructing conlon to bolster our obvious weak midfield / defence. Could explain why he is 1st choice above a weak nardiello.

I personally dont care who plays up front as long as we start scoring a few!

    Would you agree...

That the midfield role requires a much greater fitness level as they have to both support the forwards and help the defence which requires them to cover more ground?

Would you also agree that match fitness is gained from playing matches?

So, if Kay plays for three weeks in central defence and then is moved to central midfield it could be that he's not as sharp as if he'd been playing central midfield all the while and as such looks like he's struggling?

Surely you get better at your job if you play the same position all the while. If it was just football, as you suggest, we could play Hassell up front next week with Hayes at left back and Robbie Williams on the right wing. Wouldn't make much difference would it? Actually, after tonight's result, I don't think it would.
