    ...in a Battalion? Say, around the time of the Napoleonic wars?

    Been watching Sharpe on t'History channel lately. Not seen much of it before. Seems like his South Essex 'battalion' is about 40 odd blokes and a few kids.

    Napoleon had about a 1000 men in his battalion.. most were german and swiss

    Surely 'Old Boney' must have commanded an army made up from a number of regiments in turn made up from a number of battalions, Oui?

    Yeh he took charge of about 10 regiments which i guess was about 20000 in all..
