I can honestly say, that I haven't, too busy fighting mi' way into the Social club, to run onto the pitch, in mi' younger days.
The Big Lils haven't - Laura has but was allowed to! Infact Big Lil was very reluctant to step on the Hallowed Turf when Laura was a mascot even though he was told he could walk on it with her.
Only run on during a game.... twice, when I was a kid and play had stopped I ran to the edge and kicked the ball back into play for 2 free kicks....thopse were the days !!!
Social Club.... A fine isntitution that was. In the backroom for a half-time pint, and sometimes you got lucky and got in the Ponty for free through there as well. Saturday night discos that ended with 'You'll Never Walk Alone' being blurted out after the usual classics such as 'We're having A Gangbang' (as in Rita, Sue & Bob too) and 'Oops Your Head'. The front door usually had a programme seller out there and someone selling raffle tickets. Was you in there after we just failed to make the play offs against Middlesbough and there was a comedian doing his stuff? Absolute tit he was - telling a few Barnsley piss-take jokes. With regards to invading the pitch McDog, i daresay that most people our age group may have been on the pitch at one time or another. Whereas the younger lot have had to adhere to different rulings which seems to get you a ban etc.
When Rankin smashed in that 93rd minute winner against Brentford I ran from East Stand lower into West Stand via the penalty box, dodging two Stewards on way Football does crazy stuff to you Check Pompey fans yesterday invading Wigan pitch
RE: Social Club.... Never saw the start of the second half, while it was there and always a few in there, before setting off Friday nights (midnight) to Torquay, Exeter etc.
Friday night to Portsmouth...... Was you on one of the two coaches that went there? 1978/79. We were walking around early doors and came across the Barnsley team coach which had been well wrecked - all the tyres slashed, a couple of broken windows, and 'Pompey' sprayed on the bodywork. It was quite lively in the ground too as we went on to win 1-0 and virtually assure promotion. Afterwards; the police stopped our coach and some Portsmouth supporters got on and identified someone for a 'previous incident' which had happened outside the ground. And 'Fudge' ( i think he was from Wombwell?) ate some mouldy food which people were getting rid of cos he was starving.
RE: The Big Lils haven't - Laura has but was allowed to! when my son was 14 (11 years ago) i bought him a shirt and he was supposed to go onto the pitch at half time to be presented with it but a steward wouldnt allow him on.
when i was a young un,me and my mate's would alway's run on at the last home game of the season to try and get a shirt off one the player's.
can anyone remmember when david currie got laid out during one end of season pitch invasion.i think it was the last game of 93/94 season,a few hundred fan's ran on the pitch, one lad run's full pelt at currie to get his shirt,he get's about a foot away from his hero and slips on the grass, thus launching a perfect two footed tackle on poor currie and leaving him poleaxed for a good five minute's before someone helped him off

Me, but not since April 1997 , was on in 78 and 81 was it, both the promotion seasons, oh and ive lied, after the Birmingham match in 2000
Glavins last match I think it was Newport at home 4-1 to us. Everyone climbed over the wall and stood on the touchline for the final few minutes and the ball couldnt leave the pitch! When the final whistle went it seemed like all the crowd had spilled onto the pitch!
