And that they owe it to the club to go?
And how many go because they enjoy it (or hope they will enjoy it). Whether that be the 90 minutes of football, the socialising at the game or the pre or post match ritual which for many includes going to pubs and bars?

    Duty or enjoyment?

For me the game is only part of it, it's a chance to have a catch up with mates and a few beers and put the world to right, I've also met some brilliant lads and lasses through going to the games

I dont know why I go I just do, bored me to **** for a few years now.. not sure I would go if the kids didn't to. My match day experience is poor, I just turn up in car watch game and drive home.

Im sure its different for local Barnsley people and more of a social event, like when I go watch Fev rugby play,

Pretty much a combination of what everyone else had said. Plus I'm scared of missing owt..

It's not the be all and end all now though. If I've got other stuff on I'll miss the odd match. Once upon a time my whole year - hols n everything - would be based on the fixture list. Not any more

I go because I just like to get out of the house, meet up with some lads and have a beer, have a chat with our kid and my son and to hopefully see a good game of football. I'm not enjoying the football this season but I'm not going to throw the towel in on home games because of the other aspects.

I felt duty to the club (and enjoyment) pre administration says - my loyalty to my town and football club.

Now I feel like a nuisance to the people that run the club and make the big decisions.

I live in hope of new ownership for BFC

*edit - Since admin I've enjoyed 2 seasons - Gudjon's & Ritchie's promotion season. Both who we sacked. Unjustifiably imho.

Not been much to enjoy recently and if it carries on for much longer I will chalk **** on it an spend the coin on something else.
Sad because I would follow them all over away if things were better.
Sick of away days coming away from the game demoralised!

Think the supporters are pretty much the same as they were when I started going to Oakwell 45 years ago. If I had a Quid for every time my late dad said "nivver agean" while walking up Oakwell lane then I would be booking a Carribean cruise this winter. Some of us are like Lemmings not quite sure why we want to jump off the ciiff but with a driving compulsion to do so. Would jump in the air when we scored wether we were in th Premiership or Conference. The difference now is can I justify £27

Is there anything to be done that can encourage you to more quickly find something else to do?

Bit of everything to be honest . I couldn't could just go to the game and come home . Few pints before and after and I'm happy . I enjoy nearly every away day no matter how we perform . But again I couldn't just travel and go straight to the game . I don't enjoy football enough to go with out a drink and meet up with mates who I only see at weekends
