Johnson went to Bradford for 1st team football by Ritchie's own admission.

Did we actually bid for any others then ? Or were we just 'linked' ?

Constantine wasnt for sale, Lucketti didnt want to go anywhere. Hardly missed out eh?

Foster wanted to be closer to his home.

Mcloud would have played in McIndoes position so how serious was the interest and Tabb probably went for for money to Coventry.

but

If tabb went for more money elsewhere then doesnt that show that the manager DID try to bring him in in the first place? And doesnt that go against the theory that he didnt want to sign anybody?

And if it is true that McIndoe was signed by the chairman when Ritchie was on holiday then couldn't the manager's interest in him have been very serious?

point is how much did they back AR in getting these players? offering them deals obviously tells me he wanted them, but it seems to be ok to miss out on these players but not the ones they suggest? why is this becasue they are easier to bring to the club becasue they are been offered and are cheaper??

even if we got 3 of them it would have added some strength and depth

Easy:

Lucketti, Johnson, Tabb & McPhail.
Don't think you can count Chopra - as the horse had already bolted.

We offered them 2 cookers a week.
They were mad not to come.

So the way you add it up

We didn't actually go for any of them.

You're a proper star.

am I missing something here?

Is this the correct order of events?

Andy Ritchie wanted Chopra
We didnt get him
Andy Ritchie wanted Mcloud
We didnt get him
Andy Ritchie wanted Tabb
We didnt get him
Andy Ritchie Wanted Lucketti
We didnt get him
Andy Ritchie got sacked for not wanting anybody

That's the main one that I want clearing up

Radio Sheffield should get Ritchie on football heaven and armed with a list of transfer targets since promotion they should ask him for the reasons why we didnt sign each one.

You obviously didnt read my post Jay.

I said that we went for Tabb and missed out probably due to wages. May be the same with McLeod.

I also said that we don't know that the others we missed out on were due to financial reasons.
Foster did want to stay closer to his home in Warrington.
Port Vale would not sell Constantine.
Lucketti wanted to stay at Sheff U and fight for his place.

Your point is as usual invalid!!

Would you count Chopra & McPhail ?

RE: Would you count Chopra & McPhail ?

McPhail went to Cardiff for £8k per week. Chopra similar ? ( just guessing) so that's the business end of 8/9 hundred grand a year on wages on 2 players. How could we afford that ? - So no to answer your question !
