I remember it being announced in Feb that we had agreed compensation rather than going to a tribunal. As is standard with our dealings the fee was undisclosed, but were their any rumours on exactly how much we had to folk out? I'm just curious what sort of return we're looking on our investment if the club does decide its time to sell, especially with this being our new business model and this will be the first time its tested. Apologies if this question has been answered in any of the other threads I did look but couldn't see it.
And what exactly would be wrong with that? I'd fully expect Brentford to have put a sell on clause in there! If we were to get £4 million for Mawson does it matter that £1 million goes to Brentford? Not in the slightest.
A player with single digit appearances in the Championship is worth more than £4 million? Come on. We've got to be realistic. Blackburn's Captain with two seasons or more under his belt went for £6 million, as did Lewis Cook from Leeds, who again had a much better CV than Mawson. If we get £3 million plus with sell ons for Mawson that's a great bit of business by the club.
Disagree, tell them to start at 6. Both Wolves and Sunderland have the money. If they want him, they'll have to pay top dollar.
I'm probably entirely wrong about this but it would be unusual for a compensation payment to include add ons and sell on clauses.
Disagree totally with that 3 million wouldn't be good buisness if we end up going down. We need a lot more for a decent replacement.if it's not forthcoming then no sale imo .
I really dont see how many appearances a player has to his name has to do with it. In this case your buying talent and someone who is going to make 100's of appearances at this level and higher, so it figures that your going to have to pay more. £6m + 20% sell on minimum.
