How much would we have to spend to replace Howard ?

Cos that should be figuring when the Board are negotiating his new contract - same applies to Hassel.

Still no quality central defender on board, and 2 gambles up front. Can't say I'mparticularly impressedbut all we can do is get behind 'em like.

Have you not been watching ,

McCann out to the left and Mattis into the centre.

It wont cost us anymore money.

    If our luck holds,

I think we will be safe with games to spare,

My only worry is that most of Daveys games have been against teams in bottom 10 , and if we play as **** as we have done against a decent team we will get tonked.

As long as I've been watching Barnsley we've never really been able to play against kick & rush sides. I'm very interested to see how we fare against a footballing side.

Well when QPR played a bit of Footy on Tuesday we got the run around.

We need another mobile central midfielder to combat the footy teams.

You can't say that! Spartacus and D/T will be after you.

    Davey is God!

    That was worrying

But a big part of that was imho Togwell had an awful game, McCann's not up to speed yet and Howard's best pog is not left side. That and we were obviously playing to orders by sitting off them. Can't understand Davey's apparent reticence to play 'aggressively' by getting into the opposition and denying them space and time on the ball.

I like to deal in realities unfortunately,

I am very happy that we have won our last two games.

I only saw the QPR game and we were appalling , the fans were revving up for a half-time booing session until Richards scored.

2nd half we barely got out of our own half.

The performances I have seen since Davey took over have been rubbish, and considering the level that the majority of the teams we have played against are at it doesn't bode well.

    There is standing off ,

but just sitting back on your 18 yard line and hoping for the best cannot be the only tactic they teach you when you get your "Pro" License badge.

I am not deluded by the standard of football we are currently producing.

I am however pleased with the points return and our endeavours to strengthen the squad.

Davey is not god and nor was AR.

This has been done to death.

Its irrelevant , its Barnsleys points at the end of the season that matter.

The points we have gained under Davey arethe absolute minimum considering the teams we have played.

Stop looking back and look forwards.

RE: I like to deal in realities unfortunately,

Ritchie saw us through a promotion season. Davey's untried yet imho. The point of putting him in charge was, I assume, to keep us in The Championship. That's his yardstick then imho.

RE: I like to deal in realities unfortunately,

The quality of football under Ritchie was excellent in some games and for a team bedding into the Championship was more than satisfactory. It all started to go wrong when AR wanted a contract. I feel that the players AR was 'offered' wereno better than the ones already there. The performanceshave in the main been very poor under Davey, however he is our manager and no amount of me bleating will bring AR back. I wish Davey well as he seems to be a very hardworking manand hope that the two strikers he has brought in are more suited to the direct style we are currently playing. If we stay up then he will have proved that he can get results and should be warmly congratulated. I feel we should also show our support for his endevours.

Would Ritchie have kept us up ? Who knows and anyone who says they know either way is a fool. I just know that in my time of watching Barnsley (30 years+) it's the best I've felt apart from under hunter 81/82 and wilson 96/97.

RE: I like to deal in realities unfortunately,

Agreed that the footy early season was superb and entertaining.

However our prime objective has to be to stay up this season. If we do that I think that will rank alongside last seasons achievements.

However we stay up I dont care. If we see another 7 wins this season all similar to the QPR game then so be it. Next season we may play more football than we have recently but there were some signs on Tuesday and down at Luton that we were playing a little more football than previously.

I think the contrary is the case.

Playing passing football (the half game of every game or so it happened) and losing games was no fun for me.
