Absolutely dire in the first half - dead and buried. Can't begin to tell you how I felt. Second half, barring 5 mins, we took the game to them. Towards the end of the game, after we equalised, there was only one team going to win and it was us - another 5 or 10 mins and all three points were ours. Excellent Reds. You never gave up, despite a humiliating performance (yes it was!) in the first half. Macken's goal was superb and Butterfield, once he got into the game and found his feet, was forever looking to play the ball. He will feature a lot this season. Re the Reds, the difference in the second half was unbelieveable. Wednesday ran out of steam and staying power and we seemed to still have loads left in the pot. (I know that Davey was addressing this from last season. ) Towards the end, legs were tiring but we seemed to find that extra bit of ammunition from the tank, whereas Wednesday were spent. Looking back and with hindsight, in the second half, Wednesday were there for the taking. We should have pushed for the 3 points, - I am being greedy. But I am satisfied with the point. Owly felt they had lost. We felt we had won. Out of the 2 Managers today - Davey came out the winner. Brian Laws was at home and to only gain a point against the 'Dingles' after being 2 nil up is a hell of a downer in the opening game of the season. Not only tha,t it shut that ultimate T*** Pearson up on Radio Deedar, Now, what could be sweeter than that? YooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooReds!
Very sweet indeed! I know exactly how you felt in 1st half. My phone never stopped with texts from gloating part time Owls fans. We were awful. Made a change to come away from Hillsborough with a smile on my face, and the texts were returned with interest! What goes around comes around - but the arrogance of some of their fans never ceases to amaze. At half time, they were going to win the league.
