So many empty seats by me

I reckon 50% of the people in the 2 gangways near me are pay on the gate. I would imagine the club will not break even on Saturday.

I think it's a question of economics, Jay!

Based on the fact that Oldham have a good travelling support. I would imagine (based on previous seasons) that the Latics'll bring more than 1000 on Saturday, so presumably the club are seeking to maximise income? It certainly can't be based on the two clubs current league positions or levels of performance!!

I couldn't believe it either when I heard them announce that last Saturday. Does anyone know what category it was last season?

Do tickets in the away end change for category A & B matches?

I thought it was a flat rate of £20, with only the home end prices changing. Could be wrong like.

I understand that they want to milk the Oldham fans..

and under FL Rules I don't think you can charge away fans more for the same accomodation as home fans.

Therefore we all pay £20.Unless you have a season ticket that is!

Not entirely sure, as I've never been in the away end at Oakwell!

However, it is certainly the case when we've travelled to away grounds where matches have been categorised e.g. Tranmere, when the away fans have been charged a higher figure. On that basis, I don't see why Oakwell should be any different.

RE: I understand that they want to milk the Oldham fans..

Which is fair enough in the business world, but I think the club should bring back the discount system for buying match day tickets in advance like they used to do.

The hiked up prices will and are detering casual fans from attending, both on a financial and a principal point

I never considered myself a casual fan

I rarely missed more than a couple of home games a season for 25 years, even when I lived away from Barnsley for much of the 90s. But I'm having to miss them now as I simply cannot afford to go anymore. It was £14 for every home game in the Ponty if you took advantage of the advanced ticket prices when the current regime took over less than 2 years ago. It's £20 on Saturday. A rise of over 40% in two seasons.

It will a small crowd anyway.

What's wrong with charging as much as they can?
Reducing the price is unlikely to tempt anyone else to the match.

Also, quite a few folk will be travelling from Oldham (ireespictive of the "Category" of game).

"What's wrong with charging as much as they can?"

Can't believe you've said that, where do you wnat to start? The club is nothing without its fans and if the policy is to charge as much as they can then they'll soon find there won't be a club because there won't be any fans. Thousands of Barnsley fans have remained loyal through some very lean years. The reward for this loyalty should not be to get ripped off. We should be offering value for money not charging as much as possible.

I can only speak for myself, but I would be going to the game if we had a much fairer pricing policy. As it is I cannot afford it.

If I had not already promised my ticket to someone else..

    you could have it...

ooops..I bet someone will be running now to try and get the ticket confiscated...

I am led to believe that the aim of the Club

is to 'break even'. I do not know that to be a fact. just speculation. Do not draw any inferences of a detrimental nature towards the Club or any individuals.

However, i think our pricing policy for match days, families, OAP's et al is a pile of monkey jizz.

    Interperet that as you wish.

It's the easiest and quickest way to raise some money...

unless things go wrong on the field and match by match attendences drop off
