The FL or whoever really need to follow through with this. http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/latest-news/which-championship-clubs-can-expect-to-receive-a-transfer-embargo-
Great article that. Probably the most simplistic one I've seen that makes it actually possible to understand how it 'should' all work! Cheers for that.
Can't believe Brighton are going to get away with it, and with the clubs that have gone up, it just shows the financial risks that are taken to get there.
I hope this actually happens, but I've got a feeling some sort of agreement will be made to 'delay' the embargo (ie completely forget about it)
why not just remove one point per million overspend? wonder what the table would have looked like then?
The truth is overspending does take its toll in the long run... look at Portsmouth, Coventry, Birmingham, Rangers, etc & indirectly with teams like Cardiff ending up with a total outsider as a Chairman... The leagues are too soft, but the money is too tempting at the moment for a consensus to be reached to stop overspending clubs.
Fines are nothing, compared to what the Premiership can bring in. Leicester and QPR have cheated and they have got away with it. Points deductions/transfer embargoes are the only real actions. Unless the FA/Football League grow a pair and actually relegate the clubs concerned
Re: what about the rest of the leagues? Like many others I don't think the rules will "stick", and even if they do the fines are small change in comparison with the Premier League money. In other news, many clubs are allegedly flouting the minimum wage rules, for non-playing staff. They even (including our own club) have the cheek to offer unpaid "positions". More here http://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/aug/19/football-clubs-minimum-wage-hmrc That article is rather old, but here's an up to date one http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/pay-all-football-club-staff-living-wage-9830739.html. Until this situation is sorted out, I'm just about done with football. Looking forward to a nice walk on the moors this aft, lovely day for it.
The football league has no power, the only power its may have is on clubs that toe the line, and voluntarily adhere to it. Which works for Chairman that are skint or just refuse to invest, but are still in love with the position, and contacts the position brings. People like it or not have to go with what the majority want. Cos if they dont, all they have to do is give 90 days notice and start there own league, Just like the Prem did...then clubs like ours can play in the self righteous league, and look down our noses at the break away league.....and play Rotherham and Doncaster ever week Cos all the rest have ****** off. Just an alternate view, as we know in all things, money rules..
