Impressive Always making himself available to his team mates. He & Etuhu provided physical presence in midfield and passed the ball about very well.
didn't see as much of the ball as against Brugge but remember one good take from their forward, made it look effortless when the guy was in full flow, and put a couple of good balls out wide to O'Brien. The more he plays the better he'll get, he's f**king brilliant as it is.
I was thing RNL/ Jennings Mellis O'brien/ RNL digby Perkins. If you go Jennings RNL then they will both be cutting in to the one striker and tell the full backs to get forward when ever possible and tell Perkins to sit deep.
Think we would play really well in a 4231 with digby as a deep play maker and Perkins/Etuhu as a box to box midfielder.Jennings,Mellis and a quality right winger would cause havoc with COG holding the ball up. Unrealistic I know, but just saying
He's played 100 minutes ish in 9 month. 2 weeks until the season. hopefully he'll be up to a good 70 minutes in two weeks.
That's gonna be the problem this season, we have such quality in midfield, can't fit them all in. How's about (r to l) Mellis Digby Kelv Perks Jennings Dawson, although a very good player, just can't get in IMO once all up to speed. JOB and RNL too.
Can't see how you would play those 5 together. Unless you're thinking 4-5-1. Mellis loses all effect out on the wing
I like Kelvin, but best midfielder? Best of 2013? Not in my opinion. I'd pick Dagnall, COG, Mellis, Steele and Perkins out as best of 2013 before Kelv. He missed a month, don't forget. And whilst his form and contribution was crucial at times, I feel the others I mentioned were more key to our survival. I do like him, though. We haven't had his type of central enforcer for years. And the boy Digby looks great competition for him. With Perkins battling with Dawson, Jennings with Mellis, and RNL with Cywka and JOB. Options galore. I love it.
