I reckon we could do a lot worse centre-half wise. But then again, for the same reasons I was pleased when we signed Keith Curle. Desperate times and all that.....

David Unsworth..............good defender but not tall enough for centre back

    Unsworth is 1.87 m...........which is 6.13517 ft (approximatly 6' 1.5")

what would you say is tall enough , nudge?

    John Terry - 6ft 2
    Rio Ferdinand - 6ft 2

There's a possibility that you are losing the plot again . :)

Giving Paul Reid a two year contract was very strange. Unsworth and Nyatanga as centre backs could be OK.

I really hope we are not looking at Reid and A.nother as CB's

I'm sure Davey is happy with Reid.

    2 year contract.
    Club Captain.

There's no way he's going to sign two Championship standard central defenders & leave Paul on the bench.
As I've said before - Reid has Polaroid pictures of Davey being loved by Gord.

We need an amazing centre half to compliment Reid ... as the new boy will have to be great in the air, strong, quick & a good organiser - all the things Reid can't do.
I'm sure Paul will try really hard though ... and give good interviews when we occasionally win.

Nyatanga & Unsworth does sound like a decent mix.
A bit like Russ Abbotts Party Mix.

Reid was our best defender towards the end of the season.... in my opinion.

He did do Okay towards the end of last season in parts I agree. Don't get me wrong, I think the guys attitude is first class and he is an OK footballer. But he is too slow and gets turned far too easily. He looked a little out of his depth at times last season - but then again he was consistently let down by our full backs.

    Really?

By the end of the season we'd booted Kay out of the team, Nyatanga had returned to Derby ... and Reid was being partnered by a 9 year old blonde girl.
So, basically, you're correct - Paul Reid was a bit better than a 9 year old blonde girl.

However - on average he was probably the 3rd best central defender at the club who had the worst defensive record in the league (after Kay & Nyatanga).

    Paul Reid is ****.

    Over the moon

Unsworth played for England at centre half, and has spent his entire career at the top level. I imagine as the old pace goes (not that there ever was much) then playing centre back will be more suitable for him than left back.

He's got enough quality for another couple of years at this level IMO, and would be the 'experienced centre half' we're crying out for.

    me too

may be lacking in pace but can also cover left back.

Wander if there's any chance or its just BBS wiold speculation. Probably wants too much money.

Has the Nyatanga deal gone tits up??
