Not sure but it isn't alot And he is trying to big himself up as a great player Can't fault his effort and commitment, but we could get better
Who can we get? He's the best striker we've had since Bog brush. Good strikers (inc penalty takers) are hard to come by as they cost money. Especially now the club is in League 1. Not many good strikers would be willing to play third div football unless they get a good contract or unless Danny & co are VERY prudent with their transfer dealings.
I think it would be hard to find someone with his attitude and commitment on the pitch but I get the impression now he's had a good season in The Championship, his loyalty has gone out of the window. I don't feel O'Grady owes us anything though and does deserve a Championship side. Scoring 13 goals for a relegated side is quite an achievement, penalties or not.
"now he's had a good season in The Championship" ........... not from where I sit he hasn't It says everything that our only 'centre forward' has spent more time in the corner near the disabled stand/ponty end than that chief steward in the orange jacket!
Twice as many as anyone else in 8 and in 13 the best League total by a forward since we got promoted. So a very successful season. At the end of the day he's COG he's not Ronaldo of course his form will fluctuate. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Not reached double figures. A third of his goals have been penalties. Coventry look like getting three million in the summer for Wilson who's not scored goals at championship level but we will be lucky to get 750k for COG.
Unless I've missed a rule change announcement, goals scored from the penalty spot still count as goals. To say anything other is a lie.
Dint know there was a protocol on BBS saying you can't praise one squad member who's been slated by some all season and last. Then comment on another squad member who some think he is the best goal scorer we've had, without scoring a lot.
True but we've a number of players who are capable of scoring penalties who don't have the option of having their scoring record enhanced by having a free shot from 12 yards.
Agreed, O'grady needs a strike partner, not shipping out. He's never going to score goals whilst he's up front on his own, Cywka doesn't count as he's not a striker, and he certainly won't score played out wide. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I'd suggest that applies to every team in the history of the game, not something that's unique to Barnsley.
True. Just whoever the penalty taker is has an advantage to score more goals so when looking at scoring records I prefer to look at the level playing field by taking away pens scored. He's still better than our other strikers but that's not saying much. Infact tomorrow might be the weakest POTY award since Kevin Miller. Our top three will be a guy who needs pens to reach double figures, a keeper with barely a clean sheet all season and a defender with his 2nd relegation in three seasons.
And COG has proven he ain't so prolific with the pens. If he wants to leave and we get a fee that matches the Club's valuation then we sell him.
Natural goalscorer, target man, willingness. Compare him with the likes of Odejayi, Haynes etc. We should be thankful that we have a striker like Chris. Cos when we get relegated it'll be back the old 6 goals a season worn out journeymen. Count your blessings. Hope he stays missen.
He's not a natural goalscorer, he drifts in and out of game and pulls wide far too often (maybe he is told to do this?). If we had COG as a target man and a little nippy player feeding off him, then that would be my choice. Rose is clearly going to be playing a large part next season, but DW will have to bring another physical striker in, even if he does not sell COG. We are very very weak in striker department.
