    So is JCR to all intents and purposes, but he was never likely to have Capello on the phone asking for his services, so why not represent another country if you're eligible to do so through your ancestors? Barnard's qualification for Wales though being born on a forces base is slightly more tenuous, but if it's through a direct blood line, I don't see a problem.

    he's played for england under 21's before. Would this make him ineligable for scotland?

    I thought Giggs played for England Schoolboys

    As the school he was attending was actually in England, but he's not played for England in any part of the youth set up ? Brian Howard has played for England U20, but I don't know whether that'll stop him representing Scotland at full international level.

    was that really Barnards qualification for Wales?

    you learn something everyday

    I suppose its right though, he was born on a british forces base rather than an english base etc

    In all honesty, I think Brian is just loving the media attention and will mention playing for a Martians 11 if it'll get him on telly or his face in the paper for a bit longer. He's hardly a shy lad.

    British Forces site in Germany so could play for any of the home countries
