I think it's in the breeding - come down South & learn your trade at Barnsley then go back up North to pull them out of the ****. On the Official site - he's had talks Good onya Howard it's been a long time coming.
Many players have represented one country at Youth level and another at Senior level. Darren Barnard (England Youth, Wales Full) is one.
Yorkshire post reckon he can't... </p> http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/barnsley/Scottish-bid-is-ruled-out.3794864.jp </p><div class="headline" id="ds-headline"><h1>Scottish bid is ruled out for Howard</h1></div><div class="ds-firstpara" id="ds-firstpara">BARNSLEY'S FA Cup hero Brian Howard has been told to forget about playing for Scotland. </div> <div class="va-bodytext" id="va-bodytext">Howard, whose weekend goal against Liverpool set up a quarter-final date with Chelsea, had expressed a desire to play for the Scots but is ineligible having represented England at Under-20 level. Under FIFA rules, only players under the age of 21 are allowed to switch allegiances once they have played representative football for any national side in a competitive fixture. Winchester-born Howard is 25 and, although his father Billy is Scottish, is now too old to switch. The same rule prevented Bolton's former England Under-21 international Kevin Nolan from playing for the Republic of Ireland. Tickets for the Chelsea game, which will be played at Oakwell on Saturday, March 8, go on sale to season ticket holders and Oakwell Centenary Society members only from 9am tomorrow until 3pm on Saturday March 1. Season ticket holders are entitled to purchase one additional ticket not currently occupied by a season ticket holder. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale at 9am on Monday, March 3. Manager Simon Davey, meanwhile, has revealed that Brazilian midfielder Anderson De Silva could be a doubt for this weekend's league game at Norwich City after suffering an ankle injury in training yesterday. But defender Rob Kozluk's thigh injury is not as bad as first feared so the full-back, who limped off at Liverpool, could yet be fit enough to return to the side at Carrow Road.</div>
Darren Barnard Was 26 when he made his debut for Wales (v Jamaica 25/3/98), having already played for England Youth. If the YP are right, the rule must have changed. Edit: Was actually England Schools rather than England Youth, so this may be the difference.
