Brian Howard is nowhere near his peak yet

When he is , that's going to be the time to judge him against our other midfield greats . Glavin , Redfearn & Hignett were all in their prime at Oakwell . Hopefully Howard will still be at our club when he is .

Lets hope he's here long enough

Howard is clearly a VERY capable player, and it's tremendous to hear/see that he enjoys playing for this club so much. I agree he has the potential to be mentioned with those players, but there is a long way to go yet. What I do know is that everyone I bring to Oakwell walks away talking about him, and it's no surprise to hear other clubs are sniffing.

To be fair I thought he started last season better than this... it's the goals that make folk sit up and take note I guess. Hope we can keep hold but there is no chance if the prices talked about in the paper are even close to the mark. If nothing else though that sort of speculation can have a knock-on effect on the rest of the squad - if one of our players is considered as worth that much then it will certainly bump a bit on the value of the rest, if only because people stop perceiving us as the cash-strapped little club.

PS - hope thi had a goods holiday mate - bet you can't believe what you missed eh?

    Very good holiday thanks mate.

I did get to the Stoke game before hand and we were very impressive for 70 mins.

I can handle missing games that we win and am over the moon to return to a points tally in double figures - let alone 15.

WRT Howard I think he's gt potential to rank with the oakwell greats and having listened to him at the supporters meeting get the impression he's a level headed guy if somewhat of a joker.Reckons he spoke to Redfearn before signing his new contract with us and it may be that he'ld settle for becomming an Oakwell legend rather than an also ran at a bigger club - if the money was right.

One things for sure - if Brunt was sold for 3m we ought to be looking for half that again if we were to consider selling.

As for Today vs Charlton I agree that a point today would be a very good result, a loss no great shakes but I am starting to believe we can get a result against anyone
