Howard wanting to stay has made me think of just how important support for the players is

He achieved cult status quite early in his tykes career after a good start, sharp passing and getting goals after surging runs forward

This season along with Hassell he has been outstanding, he has took it to the next level.

"One Brian Howard there's only one Brian Howard" can often be heard ringing out around oakwell and at away games, this must be an amazing feeling for a player

Its this simple,he knows he is loved by the fans,if he is enjoying his football as well and the club offer him a reasonable contract then there is no reason why he shoudn't stay with us for a long time and go some way to filling the void left by a certain number 8.

In these days of lack of loyalty(pay attention Mr McIndoe) its great to see a player wanting to stay when there could be better offerings out there.

In short SUPPORT THE PLAYERS at all times, job satisfaction and feeling valued is not just for the office types.

Also please note, Reidy has taken a bit of stick on here this season by certain posters, the talk of replacing him with a new centre half is a regular subject after a defeat.

Question: When we got promoted many of the squad were out of contract, which player wasted no time at all commiting to the campaign and leading from the front? PAUL REID your Captain.Just have a think about what you would rather have. I for one would rather have loyalty over quality that fecks off after 3 months

I quite agree too. The players you mention seem to be a part of the club. Not transient. I hope the new guy is able to continue to build an improved squad that will stick around a while, learn and improve with experience. In this division. You're right, it's time for all of us to get solidly behind them. It's not going to be easy, but I think we could well survive in the Championship.

    Agreed But Surely...........

if a player is getting booed he isn't good enough ? So then why would we want him to stay ? We sing for Brian because he is good and we want him to stay. Not every player can expect that and the ones booed would be no loss for obvious reasons.

    RE: Michael Chopra got

But he got booed by the fans when he was not good enough and nobody seemed to want him. When he was good enough for us and deserved his place on merit for US, that is when he stopped getting booed.

Michael Chopra got booed by idiots

Who don't understand football and who are unable spot talent.

Anyone who booes a Barnsley player at a match is an idiot.

No he wasn't - absolute nonsense. He worked his socks off, created chances for other people - the ball just wasn't dropping for him in the box. As soon as it did, his goalscoring was added to everything else and we had the perfect striker.

    Disagree

He either was not fit or was not putting in the effort prior to the pikey debacle or indeed both.

I think he was putting the effort in, definitely wasn't fully fit.

    I think Barnsley suits Howard

He's got alot of things here that are obviously important to him - on the team sheet every week; good mates; cult status oh and I think he might like the nightlife. (rockon)
