Howard with BOTH eyes on Chelsea

Didn't get involved in this game at all for me, trying to avoid the yellow card that'd rule him out of the Chelsea match. He made a couple of 'safe' challenges during the 90 mins and that's it. Hassell was more of a midfield presence, and he's waaay out of position.

I know we're short of central midfielders now that Da Silva is out until next season, but can we afford to play with 10 men? I think Davey should rest him on Tuesday to give us a chance of points.

    While I'm pointing fingers...

Nardiello wouldn't release the ball today unless it was a shot, and he didn't end up in too many shooting positions. I'm all for a greedy streak in strikers, as long as it's only a streak.

Campbell-Ryce wouldn't release the ball today until he'd beaten at least 1 man, which wasn't often as Wednesday usually had 2 or 3 close on him.

How long do we have to wait for the players to show more determination than other local teams in derbies? The noise from the fans was fantastic (until the team deflated them), but it didn't lift the players at all.

    howards conduct was disgusting today

if that is the example he sets in a local derby then he should be stripped of the captaincy

but he can get booked on Tuesday

because a suspension doesn't start until a week after the 5th or 10th booking

    I think

He seemed to appeal to the ref

but quickly thought better of it and left it. As much as I like Brian Howard, he doesn't half spend a lot of time throwing himself to the floor, we'd go ape if he were an opposition player doing the same

    those players weren't the captain.

Here's a challenge for you. Describe 5 tackles made by brian howard in 90 minutes today.

I don't think thats what I want to see Howard doing thats Hassell's job. he should be shooting more. but he can only play as good as players around him.
Not saying he had a good game but he did'nt have a shocker.

central midfielder in a local derby SHOULD be making challenges rather than letting players pass him every time. The fact that you can't recall 5 tackles from him all afternoon says it all. Can you remember 3?

And seen as he wasn't the one putting the ball forward much for strikers, nor was he the one shooting or putting in tackles it makes me wonder exactly what he was doing.

Most of play by-passed midfield, but no I can't recall stat of thread never mind Howards 3 tackles.
