last sentence (talking about a new contract).........."hopefully the club will come and see me and we'll talk soon". Literal translation....."I want more money, Barnsley probably can't afford me now,...I'm off".
Yes it will Also I dont share the view expressed by other posters He has 1 year left on his contract - it makes sense to discuss extending it for both us and him - short term for him it will give him more cash and improve his negotiating position- longer term for us it stops him going cheaply in January or free next summer and means we can ask top dollar if someone wants to sign him this summer
Players are mercenaries, their ever-increasing bank accounts dictating which club they will show undying loyalty towards. Then move on to the next. How many players these days remain at one club all their careers - or turn down big money moves. How many players deal with contract matters themselves. Watch when a player starts to become noticed for performances/goals etc. All of a sudden, his agent starts taking interviews - remember, the only time he gets paid is when his player moves. Can't be healthy for the game. Getting into the PFA team of the year can be a very good bargaining tool.
Good Call > How many players these days remain at one club all their careers I can think of just one - Ryan Giggs and why would he want to move. Anyone else think of another one club player?
RE: Good Call Giggs is a different situation though. As you said, why would he want to move. Best example I can think of recently (relatively recently anyway) is probably Matt Le Tissier. He supposedly had loads of offers, understandable really, and chose to stay at Southampton.

Do you think that's true? I imagine that most agents will get something for the ongoing 'assistance' in renegotiating their players' contracts, be it with a new club or their own. I can't imagine that Thierry Henry's agent didn't get a slice when he got £10m out of Arsenal for securing Henry's contract there for an extra year.
