I thought he was an excellent finisher, great movement off the ball, superb in the box. Unlucky not to establish himself.

bit of luck he could have been great

confidence player though. was a lot of animosity towards foreigners by our UK lads and that can't have helped. maybe he would have fared better under a stronger manager

would you swap Nardiello for him now?

I mean, as he was, not as he is now.

    once he got fit

bassett should have given him a run, he bagged a few in and was subbed at sheff utd after scoring in the 3-3 and that was it. Back to Sheron for most of the season, feel we could have had automatic with gerogi in the team. Not baldy. then the play offs the rest is of course history

    agree

he was awesome at sheff u that night. got the impression bassett didn't rate him (or many foreigners for that matter). huge mistake - we would have gone up automatically with hristov in that team regularly when fit.

    didnt do enough

to be a top line player at the time , rose tinted glasses remembering all the good games, he also had a fair few stinkers..

saying that i actually liked him and thought with a bit of care would have been a really good player , maybe at championship level

    RE: didnt do enough

its not rose tinted glasses. i remember strongly thinking at the time that bassetts apparent dislike of georgi would cost us. whether it did or not is another matter. i am not suggesting he would have scored tonnes of goals in the premier league and yes, he did have a few stinkers but he also had that instinct for goal and i thought had what it takes to get near on 20 goals a season in the championship with a regular run in the team

Never really had his chance even when he was allot better than other strikers on the books.

Bassett played a game and lost....

wanted Gorgi on reduced wages and hoped he would not attract interest from anywhere else when he stopped picking him.

When we signed him he had turned down Arsenal...wanted guaranteed first team football !! and NEC could not afford him....when his contract was up NEC stepped in ... the day after he verbally agreed to sign for them Fulham rang him wanting to sign him but he said he had already agreed to go to Holland.

We never rang him, the day his contract ran out he spoke to the Club asking what was happening......

He went on to do well in Holland and loved it over there. Good luck to the lad, wish we had had another 3 years out of him.

Sheron cost half what Hristov cost

and at least scored a goal against the Wendies. Hristov missed a sitter at Wembley that couldve changed our immediate future.

    Just sums Bassett up..

He never forgave Barnard for missing THAT penalty and as such destroyed another player

    they both cost £1.5million mate

and sheron was with us for another 6 months - on 10 grand a week. ouch. that lump of idle turd cost us well over 3 million quid with transfer fee and wages, not even baggin a goal in every 3 starts. Hristov got 11 goals from 21 starts.

As I remember it, Wright pulled off a great save.
