Great game for Boxing Day against a team now on equal points to us - a great test. Personally it’s my biggest game of the season too as I went to school and live in Huddersfield. Really can’t wait for it!
Biggest game for me too, gutted we can't have fans there. We are both having a comfortable season and it's quite something that we've played the same amount of games, won the same, drawn the same, lost the same and have the same goal difference.
I'm over in Huddersfield pal, although recently moved from Shepley to Meltham (even further away from tarn now )! The wife's from over here hence the move and her family are all big town fans so it's a huge deal for me! We've got two boys and I don't want them to grow up and support this lot!! Really looking forward to Boxing Day! Whereabouts in Huddersfield are you?
This would have been one of the best boxing day fixtures to be at as well! Hope ifollow works a bit better on Boxing day.
Jordan Williams is a Meltham lad. I’m from Skelmanthorpe so majority on my mates are hudds fans so it’s always my biggest game aswell absolutely gutted it’s landed on Boxing Day and we can’t go
Oh it certainly is mate, Holmfirth is beautiful and there are so many nice walks round here. We would have stayed in shepley which is a really nice village, but with two young uns we just wanted to be somewhere with a bit more to it! My folks are over in Silkstone so I still get back over towards Barnsley a fair bit!
Agree DD. My eldest son and wife have a lovely cottage up the hill from the " Wrinkly Stocking cafe" in Holmfirth. It's a lovely spot. Their garden is built into the rock face at the rear of their property. My lad has put a bench at the summit. The views from up there are truly spectacular. In normal circumstances, a visit to see them wouldn't be complete unless we went down the hill for a meal at the very impressive Bengal Spice, but have to say, the walk back up their road to the cottage is a bit of a challenge.
I'll take a draw with no injuries, heroes or suspensions. I hope anyone that watches it is bored senseless. Joking aside Huddersfield fans are on a different plane. Up there with Leeds for their realism. The lads I used to talk to in Elephant and Castle in Wakey thought Herbert Chapmann was still in charge.
With a few exceptions most of their fans were ok until their couple of seasons in the PL. Since then, a lot of them have got this real sense of entitlement and apparently they're a massive club! And those that jumped on the PL bandwagon, ******* hell!! It wasn't long ago they had lower crowds than us but they offered ST deals similar to Bradford (£120 adult tickets), packed out the John Smith's stadium and got a lucky promotion to the PL with a minus goal difference. If their ST prices go back up and or they stay mid table / bottom half championship then their crowds will drop back down to 12k.
They started off absolutely *****, as did we, but have picked up recently. A proper midtable clash. But if we lose we at least have the excuse that they've spent millions on their squad. As well as on speakers next to the away end.
Sit the boys down and tell them they've got a special Christmas present, you're gunna be like Dad/ Daddy - Barnsley supporters. My Son supported Leeds (cos of family ex inlaws) many moons ago and eventually came with me to Oakwell for many seasons, even as a Toby Tyke tattoo down his leg lol. Lives in Australia now but came over two years and we took my Grandson to watch em play Gillingham, 3 generations at same game i was exstatic.
Biggest of the season for me too having grown up and lived with Townies all my life. Always make sure the 7-1 video or playoff semi final 2nd leg is at hand when there around. Just for nostalgia ofcourse
Even before other classics like beating them 7-1 or knocking them out of the play offs, let's not forget my first big memory of doing a job on them when Andy Payton got a hat trick.... https://www.11v11.com/matches/barnsley-v-huddersfield-town-03-october-1995-33018/
