"6 changes for one reason or another". hmmmmm, fair enough if we get summat at WBA, but that game was there for the taking and I simply dont believe at this stage in the season the likes of Johnson, Ferenczi and Odejayi need resting midweek. With the latter two not getting on the pitch ahead of Coulson, we basically gave the game away.

The manager's just up'ed the pressure on himself if you ask me.

It's very hard to win a game 0-0.

I tend to find that scoring a goal helps in winning football matches.
Great first half performance, which got the Geordies on the back foot ... we then threw all the hard work away by not going for their throats.

Werling was the best player on the park.
Followed by Mattis, in my opinion.

Have that.

Can't say I agree. For the first time in ages we've got a squad of players, most of whom can perform at the desired level. I'd rather that the ones who weren't in the first team on Saturday are given a run-out against decent opposition rather than the other options of playing them against ***** in the reserves or making wholesale changes to a winning side on Saturday. Just my opinion like......

I thought those 3 you named had picked up knocks on Saturday? I don't think they would have been rested had they been match fit.

It wasn't there for the taking

Newcastle upped their game in the second half and it showed their quality when they produced 2 goals and had us on the back foot for the majority of the half.

Both Ferenczi and Odejayi had knocks so they were rested I believe.

Rubbish.

They couldn't pass the white round thing to each other.
They were garbage & were there for the taking, we just decided not to bother.

Given - okay
Solano - looks lost at right back
Taylor - okay
Capaca - very good
Enrique - poor
Smith - the worst player on the park
Geremi - garbage
Emre - was he playing?
N'Zogbia - quiet
Owen - rubbish
Ameobi - strong, but couldn't trap a bag of sand

We laid down & let them beat us ... after giving them a real fright in the first half.
I'd rather go down fighting than surrender.

RE: Rubbish.

I'm not saying we surrendered. I think we put the effort in for all 90 minutes. To be honest I don't think unless we'd have had ferenczi or Odejayi we were ever gonna score with the strikers we had. I think Christensen was the only striker we had that seemed any good but he wasn't gonna run the show against Newcastle on his own.

Johnson had a knock too. Davey said so on his interview on Barnsley World.

I dont believe that, sorry

its a simple case of not taking the game seriously imho, can understand the need to give certain squad players a chance to prove themselves, but Coulson is as far away from a Championship striker as Ive seen since Mike Turner, why not put Christensen alongside Mostto for the last 30 minutes?

poor decision by Davey, hope it doesnt come back to haunt him.

Mostto was knackered when there were 30 minutes left. Would have been pointless.

I thought players were supposed to do exercise when it's not a serious injury.

and it was Davey that said it, not us.

Knackered after 60 mins?

ffs, then we really are in trouble. he looked off the pace of the game, but that'll come with minutes on the pitch. by playing him as lone striker, which I dont think is his game, all we've achieved is install him as public enemy no.1 and damage the lads confidence most probably.

dont believe anything in the media pre match cos we've established the manager uses it as spin. the reality is, he rested players that imho shouldnt have been rested. I'd have taken a win last night and a defeat on Saturday cos lets face it, how many people think we're going to get owt at WBA? 2 defeats and he's on the ropes again.

RE: Rubbish.

I was shocked when I read the papers this morning and found out that Smith had played. Only found out Emre had when he was subbed. They were ****, we should have capitalised.

Im not saying I disagree here mate, but cantthat argument go both ways? What happens if we get a win on Saturday? Who's expecting that? I'd rather beat WBA Saturday than beat Newcastle last night. Hell, i'd even take a point on Saturday right now.

RE: Knackered after 60 mins?

It was playing him as a lone striker that knackered him. I think alongside a big target man he'd be a lot better, you can see he's got good touches and he's good with the ball at his feet, he just looked lost on his own though. I'd have accepted playing him alongside Kim from the start really.

Well I didn't really expect to win last night if I'm being honest. I hoped we could win but that's a different matter. If so many people weren't so fickle and pessimistic he wouldn't be on the ropes again because we've got to look at the big picture and realise that there are plenty of teams that are far better than us generally, they can spend more money on players etc. We can't expect to beat everyone week in week out.

Yesterday people were saying it was an unimportant match with it being the Carling cup and that's why we hadn't sold many tickets. So I don't understand why other people on here who said that and didn't go are now complaining that we lost.
