"Historically it has happened before. I was in teams here where we always had a little bit of benefit. I never felt it was an issue when we played here. "But since I have left maybe I have changed my view on that. I am not going to question anyone's integrity but I do not know where has got seven minutes from. "It would be nice to get an explanation but I don't think I will." What a surprise. He was happy that it worked that way when it benefited him but now he thinks it's unfair. Surely he can see the hypocrisy in what he's saying?
He's wrong anyrode Board goes up for a MINIMUM of four minutes stoppage time. United make a substitution, ref adds 30 secs (as the rules dictate) City score, ref adds one minute (as the rules instruct) That makes 5'30 of stoppage time. United scored at 5'25. Where's his problem again?
Big teams do get the benefit I have a soft spot for Celtic (Scottish family) and go up there for at least one match per season. Celtic get the rub in most 50/50 decisions in the matches I've seen, as do Rangers, Man Utd, Liverpool, Aresenal, Chelsea and in the next tier; Spurs, Villa, Everton whenever they play 'smaller' teams.
It's subconcious, but it does happen.

Didn't Ferguson once say when playing against Hughes after he left "Mark Hughes had his usual 15 fouls" When those fouls were "combative football" when he was playing in a Red Shirt. Hypocrasy all round in football - none more than from that tw@t Ferguson. Jesus Wept I thought I'd stumbled on the Manchester United forum this morning with all the love for the scum on here.
i think refs where gettin worried thinkin we cant let man u go 5points behind wiv chelsea playin well
Its simple to me. 4 mins plus the 56 seconds for the over celebration. i had time to go to toilet and get a drink before it kicked off again. Plus the sub which was 30 seconds. ALSO city where time wasting before the free kick which led to the goal. This would have added an extra 30 secs at least.
sir Alex as his head screwed on he knew it would take 2 seconds to put Carrick on but by the letter of the law the ref as to had play a extra 30 seconds so that's what he did using rules to his own advantage to gain 25 seconds
Just to clarify: I'm not disputing whether or not too much time was played Personally I don't give a flying, er, fig. It's Hughes contention that he felt it was OK when it personally benefited him in the past that I'm taking exception to.
