Something of interest on Twitter. Someone has made a fake Ben Manford account (btw it is class really funny) now one of these fake Ben tweets was sent to Hugo "How are you? I keep mentioning your name to Danny but he always says "who?" maybe you can send him a dvd of your best bits!? An account unde Hugo Colace (which is not verified but has plenty of photos of him out and about) has replied twice "Are you really the owner?" "Follow me and we will talk in private!" Sounds like poor Hugo has not picked up on the joke and wants to come back! Also Hugo has retweet ed a fake Ben tweet which says "We were particularly close to signing a player who previously represented the brand but I am afraid his wage demands was out of reach?" Probably a wind up but good fun go have a look yourselves Sent from my Q10 using Tapatalk
He now wants 'Ben' to give him his phone number. I actually feel bad for him. Either he's proper desperate, or proper loved it here.
He has just asked for mansfords email address so he can send him his best bits haha. I feel the need to tell hugo, but its just too funny.
He now know the lads fake. And hes also signing for a club in Argentina. Says the footbalss crap tho.
Those blunts fans though, how ******* thick can you get? Seem to have gone a little quiet now I've notified them it's a parody account.
If he wants it that much we ought to talk to him. He could play a bit and that was in the championship.
He didn't play like he loved it here in his final season. I never rated him at all. I thought his POTY award was pretty damning of how bad the rest of the team were. However, he was at least doing something in the 2009/10 season and he did look like he cared. I didn't think he was playing well, but to give him credit, he scored 8 goals. That side of his game seemed to come from nowhere. He hadn't looked capable of even getting in the opposition's penalty area the previous season, but then he somehow picked up the knack of arriving late and scoring some vital goals. Unfortunately that knack deserted him in the 2010/11 season and his general play got even worse. By the end he didn't look like he could give a crap. Dunno if his Twitter account is really him though. Is there anything to verify it?
Lots of photos of him out and about, photos that other people won't have. I'm sure it's him. Not sure if he is playing "Ben" at his game though. Some class fun though Sent from my Q10 using Tapatalk
His photos are very very personal. Of him and his house, kids, business etc. I'd say it's definitely him. Regarding him as a bloke, the players I know who played with him said he was a lovely bloke, family man. As a player, I thought he brought a touch of finesse to the side initially. He wasn't outstanding or owt at any point for me, but after watching some of the garbage players in that position lately, he looks different class. His final season here was dreadful though, but partnering him with Arismendi was a nightmare. I hated them at one point. I remember being at Selhurst Park that season and Arismendi cost us the game late on. And their inclusion restricted Jacob's chances centrally. But at home to Bristol City, I think Hugo went off injured early on and Jacob and the other Jacob bossed the game through the middle, the former scoring that dream goal. Hugo won't go down in any best XI's I don't think, but neither any worst XI's. As said already by someone else (BRF?), if he's so desperate to return, surely he's worth a trial? I mean, Hoskins hasn't kicked a ball for 17 months and we're looking at him.
I think that he did bring something of quality to the team, but was often unnoticed until he wasn't playing. There was one spell when we only lost when he wasn't playing and I do think that tells you something. He read the game well and closed down opposition play and passing almost instinctively. Granted that he was a ten-yard passer, but that's ok if your job is to break up play and get us back in possession. You might have thought Mascherano an anonymous player at times as well, but he has a similar knack for reading and breaking up play. If he's fit and keen, I would have him back and put him just in front of the back four.
I thought he was a good player myself who had his head turned by his agent and after hat it was all downhill. Worth a trial I'd say. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
He's certainly one of the better foreign players we've had at the club. I'd love him back. Quality player at that level, there's no wonder good footballing sides like Palace & Swansea were keen on him at times. It was a shame he was poor in his last season as he seems to suffer from 'last season syndrome' where players get classed as **** because the last part of a spell at a club didn't go well. Perkins been the latest example. I feel sorry for him though, the language barrier's clearly stopping him from working out these accounts he replies to are parodies
