......................in all discussions they very rarely seem to be considered as relegation candidates. 6th biggest city ( or whatever it is - defo top 10) in England, better than average Championship support, Premiership stadium............................yet an history on a par with Rochdale. Plus arguably one of the worst accents** in the Uk never mid Yaaaarkshire (soz, a bad habit picked up from living in Leeds too long). Add the fact they are the only team we have done the double over - and the only team we have really walloped - then perhaps they could be the dark horses( or sun burnt tigers) for relegation?

** Of course accents have nothing to do with success on the pitch or otherwise- if they did - Liverpool would have been the perenial conference league strugglers.

    Big rugby town though, init?

Same with Wigan - they had piss poor attendances before they went to the Prem and I don't think they'd ever been in the top flight before, neither. Were they even in the second flight as often as us?

    I've said since Brum game...

It's Luton plus two of Southend, Leeds, Barnsley and Hull in my view.

    6th biggest city?........

Blimey! There's a shock!...... Not my cup of tea Hull, to be honest. As for the supporters, they seem to have a big outlook on themselves since their new stadium was built. Seen them at Barnsley with no more than 400 on a couple of occasions, and their home gates were excellent to say the least (arf!)

No, Wigan only entered the league in the late 1970's

Got promoted to the 2nd tier in, I think, the season after we got relegated from there...that was the first time they'd been in the 2nd tier.

The media need Big City clubs to get to the Prem asap.....it lines their own pockets.

However, Hull City should not even be mentioned in the same breath as 'tarn' when it comes to size - judging by tradition, support v size of town ratio, history, higher league status - and so on and so forth - Barnsley are massive compared to that East Yorks (Humberside?) lot....... I have watched a lot of BFC v Hull games at Boothferry Park and quite often the Barnsley support almost matched - numerically - that of the 'Tigers' (jaysus, gay nickname as well!) ...................lots of Prawn Sarnies at the KC Im afraid.

.......so if Hull are the armpit, then Plymouth will one day surely give some fortunate/unfortunate blighter a 'good seeing to'.................what would Barnsley be? Maybe, the tonsils? not really needed in some peoples opinion but will NEVER EVER go away...............hey Wuzbrer 41, did you get the rent and are you going tomorrow? (now I'm sounding gay!)

Disco old chap... i did not get the rent. The outcome of events is thus so far: I have threatened the brother-in-law who is my contractor. The client on Forest Hill rang up with regards a separate issue and i threatened him too. The brother-in-law is all humble so i'm in the ascendancy with that one, but he's gone behind by back to pay my labourer a 'sweetener' cos the 'hoddie' is a bit moody. I found out, kicked off, sacked the hoddie and all things with the in-laws are now extremely tender with the chap who was considered the 'northern monkey' when ingratiated into the southern jessy household is now kicking arse! The client, who has been trying it on with the other job is now liaising with the brother-in-law cos i have threatened to smash the whole project down and concrete the drains - both people are connected to the job, but on a 'day-rate' only the client is required. The upshot of it is i'm owed £3,300 (after tax) but i've kept the hoddie and other people happy. The debt is now over 3 weeks due........... It's now one of those 'watch this space' scenarios; plus - the client is a chap with a reputation for violence and runs a few doors in south east London etc.

It's like another thrilling episode of Soap (cue music Chester)...... But by hook or by crook i shall be there tomorrow lad.

............it could also have been a clue off 3-2-1!!!!! - its that convoluted............. (by the way, Soap was one of the few American comedies that I think you could genuinely describe as funny). However, I'm sure you will persevere and it will sort itself out. That said, sounds as though you are ruffling the feathers of a few Southern Softies which is never a bad thing.....................................................let's hope 'tarn' do the same to the Essex boys tomozz. Going on the coach tomorrow so at least not loads of driving on the agenda. I really, really would take 0-0 now. Im sure in 4 games time a draw would prove to be the moment we all started to believe.....................'we are staying up, sing, we are staying up'.

A draw would suit me fine too... but methinks if we hit the game aggressively and attacked them from the start we would have the chuffer sewn up by half time. The locals are very wary of Nardiello and Ferenczi and are curious/ perturbed as to Barnsley's approach. I reckon that if we can silence the locals (they're making a big effort to 'loud' it up for this one) and get an early goal we shall peel the Shrimpers (soz. drunken Motson coming out).

What time you setting off tomorrow, and who with? I've had jolly jaunts with the Royston Legion and, on one occasion, with the Outpost who chanced upon a coach from Cudworth (Chippy Rowe's). It was Swindon away and i think some chap from the Outpost won at pool or summat and the whole pub went up - in a village called Shrivenham - both coaches had an esort to the ground and everyone got on famously thereon.

Southend 79/80.... i can recall a certain chap throwing soup in the face of a very aggressive Southen fan at the snack bar. Aforementioned individual got caught hiding amongst Reds' fans. We took 500 down to Roots Hall that day for a'non-descript' match. Happy days!

Anyway lad i'm rambling...... i'll be the one wearing blue cargo shorts and rock-climbing shoes. Whilst you're looking at my footwear i'll nick yur burger, arf! :D (Y)

Im going on one of the official coaches from the ground at 9am. Not been on a coach to a game for years - but let down by people who said they would go but cant - otherwise I would have gone in the car - and I could tek the bird but she is one bad luck omen (took her to Cov and Ipswich - say no more!) - so I am happy to be chauffered down there in style (maybe not!). The last time I went on a coach to a game it was late 70s/early 80s - in the days when the Supporters club used to run the coaches with some great characters like Kevin Nutting, Reg , Fudge etc etc.

Anyway mate, whatever the result would be good to hear your take on events after tomozz.
