Yes well done indeed, Ipswich saved him from a public enquiry and having to win at WBA to be safe. But lets not take anything away from the guy. He was thrown in with little experience, in a boiling point situation to keep the reds up. He as achieved that, so i will praise him. He will not win over the majority of fans untill he proves that he can bring in quality players in the close season and BarnsleyFC establish themselves in a more comfortable position in the Championship. Good luck to him though. (Y)
Getting us in this division and for doing half the job to keep us up. Or did we have 0 points when Davey took over? We are currently 4 points above Leeds......Ritchie was manager when we beat them at Oakwell, a result that could prove to be so important in our survival.
A slice from me You have to give credit to SD for the way the team has turned around over the last few matches (that is, unless the team have got together and agreed to ignore him!). We'll see next season whether this has been created more by the character of the players than the manager, but he does deserve everyone's full support from now on. I said I'd be very happy with 4th bottom at the start of the season and I reckon that's exactly where we'll finish after a hiding at WBA - so job done. We've had some rough times this season and before Brum I thought we were gone, I'm so so so happy to be proved wrong. An aside (because you can't mention Leeds too often today) Dennis Wise said on the radio that he felt he'll be fine next season because, unlike this season, he'll have the players from the summer. That was a major contributing factor for him - they'd have been fine if he'd been there from the start. He also said he'll be there "long into the future." About long enough to find the lynch mob waiting for him outside the ground I reckon.
1/2 the job my big fat arse more like 1/3rd the job of getting shut of us but hey ho /i hate being proven right </p>
Fair's fair Darrel... Davey himself, while (rightly) claiming we deserve to stay up, pointed to the results against Leeds, Hull and Southend as being key factors - out of the six games against those teams Ritchie got six points out of six, Davey ten out of twelve. Massive thumbs up to Davey (Y) and no mistake but your Ritchie bashing sounds a bit puerile considering it's a position which will never be proved wrong or right...
Lol I tried to post what I saw about Davey with the film I am making with Year 6 Got bombed off the site because of my positive postings!! :'(
RE: If he contributed that much h would not have got the sack Very constructive backed up argument. The content of your post seems to sum up your knowledge of the game
