His condition deteriorated yesterday and he was taken in for surgery.

He was being kept in a high dependency unit.

Hume, who turned 25 on October 31, was hurt in a clash with Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan as both challenged for a header in the first half.

Morgan was booked for the incident by referee Andy D'Urso.

Hume came off clutching his face. He was groggy after the match and felt worse as the weekend progressed.

That's really bad news. Club doctor took ages to get off his backside and just appeared to pat the lad on the back !

He sat there for ages with ice on his cheek. Should've been sent straight to hospital. Even I could tell he was hurt bad.

    GEt well soon Humey !
